Abstract

Sekolah XYZ merupakan sekolah yang menerapkan kurikulum Internasional dan menggunakan bahasa Inggris pada keseluruhan proses belajarnya. Selama dua tahun ajaran terakhir, terdapat kecenderungan prestasi belajar yang lebih rendah pada siswa baru dibandingkan prestasi belajar siswa lama pada kelas 10 di mata pelajaran Biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh antara kemampuan bahasa Inggris, kecocokan proses pembelajaran, dan beban tugas terhadap prestasi belajar siswa baru dan siswa lama kelas 10 pada mata pelajaran Biologi di Sekolah XYZ Serpong. Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif. Jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 79 orang siswa baru dan 81 orang siswa lama. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket dengan alat bantuan program statistik SPSS dan Microsoft Excel. Perhitungan validitas, hubungan, dan pengaruh dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus Pearson dan regresi, serta perhitungan reliabilitas dengan menggunakan Cronbach Alpha. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh hasil bahwa nilai akhir rata-rata prestasi belajar siswa baru (60,67) lebih kecil daripada nilai akhir rata- rata prestasi belajar siswa lama (65,13) pada mata pelajaran Biologi. Nilai korelasi variabel kemampuan bahasa Inggris (0,072), kecocokan proses pembelajaran (0,034), dan beban tugas (0,198) adalah sangat rendah terhadap prestasi belajar siswa baru. Nilai korelasi variabel kemampuan bahasa Inggris (0,041), kecocokan proses pembelajaran (0,109), dan beban tugas (0,224) adalah sangat rendah terhadap prestasi belajar siswa lama. Besarnya pengaruh kemampuan bahasa Inggris, kecocokan proses pembelajaran, dan beban tugas terhadap prestasi belajar siswa baru 0,1%. Besarnya pengaruh kemampuan bahasa Inggris, kecocokan proses pembelajaran, dan beban tugas terhadap prestasi belajar siswa lama 1,9% / XYZ School Serpong implements the International curriculum and uses English as its main language in the learning process. This study is interested in the problems which occur in grade 10 students who have been studying Biology during the last three years of high school. There is a trend of the average learning outcome scores of the grade 10 new students are well below the average learning outcome scores of grade 10 returning students. This study aims to determine whether or not there is influence between English proficiency, the learning process, and the burden of task on learning outcome of grade 10 new and returning students in the subjects of Biology at XYZ School Serpong. The samples are 79 new students and 81 returning students. The research instrument used is a questionnaire with the help of SPSS statistical program and Microsoft Excel. Calculation of validity, correlation, and rate of influence is done by using Pearson and regression test, and the calculation of reliability by using Cronbach Alpha. Based on the research results, the average score of new students achievement (60.67) is below than the average score of returning students (65.13) in the subject of Biology. The correlation value for English proficiency is 0.07, the learning process is 0.03, and the burden of tasks is -0.12 for the learning outcome of new students. The correlation value for English proficiency is 0.04, the learning process is 0.11, and the burden of task is -0.22 for the learning outcome of returning students. The result of this research showed that English proficiency, the learning process, and the burden of task gives some influence to the new student learning outcome by 0.1%, while for the returning students is 1.9%
