Abstract

Job satisfaction is long considered as a key element in assessing employees’ loyalty and contributions toward an organization. It is believed to play significant role in shaping employees’ morale that will affect the organizational performance. Meanwhile, organizational success relies heavily on the leadership quality of decision and policy makers as achievements and results are dependent on traits owned by an individual, namely the leaders. Therefore, the writer aims to discover whether leadership has influence on job satisfaction. Herzberg's Two-Factor theory explains that there are two factors that affect satisfaction, namely motivating factors and hygiene factors. Motivating factors are factors that help to improve one’s satisfaction, while hygiene factors help to eliminate dissatisfaction that arises. This research is a descriptive and causal research which employs quantitative method in collecting data. Data for this study is collected by distributing questionnaire to 30 employees of CV Dunia Parabola Medan. The data analysis is conducted through simple linear regression analysis. This research discovers that leadership has a positive significant influence on job satisfaction at CV Dunia Parabola Medan. The conclusion is drawn based on the result of the regression analysis where the significance level is proven to be less than 0.05. This research also finds that 66.3% of job satisfaction is influenced by leadership. The writer suggests CV Dunia Parabola Medan to provide more opportunities for employees to partake in decision-making process so that management could identify and resolve the circulating constraints that stress the employees. In addition, CV Dunia Parabola Medan should also offer other monetary and non-monetary benefits to the employees as an attempt to improve job satisfaction at the company./Kepuasan kerja telah lama dianggap sebagai elemen kunci dalam menilai loyalitas dan kontribusi karyawan di sebuah organisasi. Hal tersebut diyakini berperan penting dalam pembentukan semangat kerja karyawan yang dapat mempengaruhi kinerja organisasi. Sedangkan keberhasilan organisasi sangat bergantung pada kualitas kepemimpinan para pengambil keputusan dan pembuat kebijakan karena pencapaian dan hasil sangat bergantung pada ciri-ciri yang dimiliki oleh pemimpinnya. Oleh karena itu, penulis bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kepemimpinan berpengaruh terhadap kepuasan kerja. Teori Dua Faktor Herzberg menjelaskan bahwa ada dua faktor yang mempengaruhi kepuasan: faktor motivasi dan faktor kebersihan. Faktor motivasi adalah faktor yang membantu meningkatkan kepuasan seseorang, sedangkan faktor kebersihan membantu menghilangkan ketidakpuasan yang timbul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dan kausal yang menggunakan metode kuantitatif dalam pengumpulan data. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 30 karyawan CV Dunia Parabola Medan. Analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis regresi linier sederhana. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kepemimpinan berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja di CV Dunia Parabola Medan. Kesimpulan tersebut diambil berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi dimana tingkat signifikansi terbukti lebih kecil dari 0,05. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa 66,3% kepuasan kerja dipengaruhi oleh kepemimpinan. Penulis menyarankan CV Dunia Parabola Medan untuk memberikan lebih banyak kesempatan kepada karyawan untuk berpartisipasi dalam proses pengambilan keputusan, sehingga manajemen dapat mengidentifikasi dan mengatasi kendala-kendala yang ada. Selain itu, CV Dunia Parabola Medan juga harus menawarkan manfaat moneter dan nonmoneter lainnya kepada karyawan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kepuasan kerja di perusahaan.
