Abstract

Program Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL) adalah program pembelajaran yang memadukan program pendidikan di sekolah menengah kejuruan dengan program penguasaan keahlian yang diperoleh melalui bekerja langsung pada pekerjaan yang sesungguhnya di institusi pasangan. Dua pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat mendukung pelaksanaan PKL secara efektif adalah pendekatan experiential learning dan work-based learning. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran mengenai kualitas penerapan experiential learning dan work-based learning dalam aktivitas kerja siswa pada program Praktik Kerja Lapangan di SMKN 20 Jakarta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Subyek penelitian ini terdiri dari 11 informan yang berasal dari pihak siswa, sekolah, dan institusi pasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh tahap experiential learning yaitu concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, dan active experimentation telah dialami dengan baik oleh siswa. Sedangkan dua komponen inti work-based learning yang pertama yaitu recognition and accreditation of learning dan programme planning sama sekali belum diterapkan dalam program PKL, sementara dua komponen inti lainnya yaitu research and development dan work-based project telah diterapkan dengan baik. Dengan demikian, sekolah sebagai institusi pelaksana program PKL diharapkan dapat memfasilitasi siswa agar mampu mengenali kompetensi yang dimiliki dan melibatkan siswa dalam proses perancangan program PKL agar pelaksanaannya dapat berlangsung secara efektif / Work-study program (PKL) is a learning program that integrates education program at vocational high school and skill mastery program obtained through actual working in counterpart institution. Two learning approaches which support the effective implementation of PKL include experiential learning and work-based learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive research aims to obtain the description of experiential learning quality and work-based learning application on student working activities in the Work-study program at Public Vocational High School 20 of Jakarta. Data obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The research involves 11 subjects from schools and counterpart institution. The research shows that all experiential learning stages which are concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract concetualization, and active experimentation have been experienced well by the students. The first two core components which are research and development and work-based project have been applied well, whereas two other core components of work-based learning which are recognition and accreditation of learning and programme planning have not been applied in PKL program. Therefore, school as an institution which implements PKL program is expected to facilitate the students to be able to identify their own competency, and to involve them in the process of PKL program preparation for effective implementation.
