Abstract

Transactional leadership is identic to have strict hierarchy structure to ease chain of command. Leader values employee’s relation as a transaction in which causing stiffness of work relationship in PT. Menara Abadi Persada in Medan. This research is to analyze the influence of transactional leader on employees’ performance in PT. Menara Abadi Persada in Medan. The purpose of the study would reveal the relation between transactional leader and employees performance. PT. Menara Abadi Persada is a company engaged in exterior and interior trading. As a manufacturing company that has developed sufficiently, the company is still experiencing a decline in performance. This research used a descriptive quantitative method, primary and secondary data. Data was collected through the questionnaire distribution and interviews to the employee. The population is 76 employees and sample in this research is 76 employees by using a non-probability sampling using census sampling. Coefficient of determination result is 35,9% which means employee’s performance is affected by transactional leadership. Simple linear regression test result is Y = 14.029 + 0.824 X. It also resulted that questionnaire distributed are valid and reliable. In conclusion, research conducted showed that transactional leadership has influence on employees’ performance. Leadership applied is effective and could boost employees’ performance by practicing reward and punishment system./Kepemimpinan transaksional identik dengan struktur hierarki yang ketat untuk memudahkan rantai komando. Pimpinan menghargai hubungan karyawan sebagai transaksi yang menyebabkan kaku hubungan kerja di PT. Menara Abadi Persada di Medan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemimpin transaksional terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT. Menara Abadi Persada di Medan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap hubungan antara pemimpin transaksional dan kinerja karyawan. PT. Menara Abadi Persada adalah sebuah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang perdagangan eksterior dan interior. Sebagai perusahaan manufaktur yang sudah cukup berkembang, perseroan masih mengalami penurunan kinerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif, data primer dan sekunder. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara kepada karyawan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 76 karyawan dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 76 karyawan dengan menggunakan nonprobability sampling dengan menggunakan sensus sampling. Hasil koefisien determinasi 35,9% yang berarti kinerja karyawan dipengaruhi oleh kepemimpinan transaksional. Hasil uji regresi linier sederhana adalah Y = 14.029 + 0.824 X. Hal ini juga menunjukkan bahwa kuesioner yang dibagikan valid dan reliabel. Kesimpulan dari penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan transaksional berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kepemimpinan yang diterapkan efektif dan dapat meningkatkan kinerja karyawan dengan menerapkan sistem reward and punishment.
