Abstract

Film dinilai sebagai media komunikasi yang berpengaruh besar kepada khalayaknya. Adanya perkembangan teknologi dalam perfilman dan semakin tumbuhnya industri film membuat film-film yang ditayangkan tersaji menarik dan memberikan efek kepada khalayaknya. Hollywood menjadi kiblat perfilman dunia, dengan banyak melahirkan sineas berkelas dan produsen film yang terus berinovasi. Salah satunya adalah The Walt Disney Company, yang telah banyak menghasilkan film-film yang digemari banyak penonton di seluruh dunia. Dalam penelitian ini akan menganalisis menggunakan pendekatan semiotika dari Charles Sanders Peirce bagaimana kekerasan direpresentasikan dalam film Mulan yang dibuat ulang dari versi sebelumnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif interpretatif, dimana peneliti menginterpretasi data untuk memperoleh arti dan makna yang mendalam dan luas terhadap hasil penelitian yang dilakukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan senjata menjadi faktor utama mengenai kekerasan. Penggunaan senjata identik dengan aktivitas yang berbahaya dan dapat melukai orang lain. Selain itu kekerasan pada kajian dalam film ini identik dengan ambisi untuk menguasai yang ditempuh dengan cara kekerasan baik bersifat fisik maupun nonfisik. Pelaku kekerasan digambarkan selalu melakukan intimidasi untuk merendahkan lawannya, memberikan ancaman dan melakukan pemaksaan. / Film is considered as a medium of communication that has a big influence on the audience. The existence of technological developments in the film industry and the growing growth of the film industry makes the films shown are presented attractively and have an effect on the audience. Hollywood is the mecca of world cinema, with many producing classy filmmakers and film producers who continue to innovate. One of them is The Walt Disney Company, which has produced many films that are loved by audiences around the world. In this study, we will analyze using a semiotic approach from Charles Sanders Peirce how violence is represented in the film Mulan which is remade from the previous version. This study uses a constructivist paradigm. The approach used in this research is qualitative using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics. This research is an interpretive descriptive study, where the researcher interprets the data to obtain deep and broad meaning and meaning of the results of the research conducted. The results showed that the use of weapons was the main factor regarding violence. The use of weapons is synonymous with activities that are dangerous and can injure others. In addition, the violence in the study in this film is identical with the ambition to dominate which is pursued by means of violence, both physical and non-physical. Perpetrators of violence are described as always intimidating to humiliate their opponents, threatening and using coercion.
