Abstract

Pemahaman akan otoritas adalah sangat krusial dalam hubungan guru dan murid. Pemahaman yang salah dapat membuat otoritas tergelincir menjadi alat penindasan di dalam ruang kelas. Otoritas guru semakin kabur dewasa ini sementara pendulum dunia pendidikan sedang berayun ke arah murid sebagai titik pusat, seringkali dengan mengingkari keniscayaan kehadiran otoritas. Kelangsungan peran otoritas di dalam ruang kelas bergantung pada bagaimana guru menyadari kelekatan otoritas pada dirinya. Dalam penelitian yang lebih mendalam terhadap hidup seorang guru, kita bahkan dapat melihat jejak-jejak pergulatan dari diri yang otentik dengan apa yang dinamakan otoritas di sepanjang hidupnya, lengkap dengan luka dan trauma akibat konflik yang terjadi antara keduanya. Penelitian ini akan membuka mata kita akan eratnya tautan antara praksis dunia pendidikan dan kekerasan yang terjadi di masyarakat serta praksis politik di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode narrative inquiry. Peneliti memilih untuk mengamati satu orang responden dari dekat selama kurun waktu tertentu dan meraih kepercayaan untuk menelisik dirinya lewat narasi hidupnya yang diungkapkan dalam sebuah wawancara. Dengan analisis mendalam terhadap alur narasi, latar, serta sosok di baliknya, kedirian (selfhood) responden diungkapkan bukan hanya secara deskriptif, namun juga secara mendetail dalam hubungannya dengan otoritas / The understanding of authority is very crucial in a teacher-student relationship. The wrong understanding of authority will potentially turn authority into an instrument of oppression in a classroom. Teacher’s authority is fading away these days, as the pendulum of education world is swinging to students as the center, many times, at the cost of the necessity of authority. The sustainability of authority role in a classroom depends on how conscious the teachers of the attachment of authority and selfhood. In a deeper inquiry of a teacher’s life, we can see the traces of the struggle of authentic self and authority, preceding the wound and trauma as its result. This research will also show us the intertwining educational praxis and social violence and political praxis in Indonesia. The researcher applies the narrative inquiry method and chooses to observe a respondent up, close and personal for certain period and gains his trust to learn about him through his life narrative. By analyzing the plot, setting and the character behind the narrative, his selfhood is conveyed in a descriptive and elaborative manner related to authority
