Abstract

During COVID 19 pandemic situation, one of the most effected sector is education. Distance learning become the only possible way to execute learning process. Both formal and non formal education institutes are striving to maintain the delivery of education to the students in the most effective and efficient manner possible. The principal is the key of success to the progress and continuity of their organization. By being able to identify the problems that the organization is facing, the principal is responsible to formulate strategic steps then implement those steps, the role of the principal really matters. This is an evaluative study using qualitative research method. The data is collected through deep interviews with the source person and continuous observation done by the writer. In this research, the writer concludes that the role of the principal in Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM) XYZ is important. She and her team have implemented the strategic steps that they formulated together. Therefore, the online learning process may run effectively and efficient for the students. Nevertheless, by implementing those strategic steps, she has created a comfortable work situation for the staff. The obstacles occurred during the implementation process are basically technical issues and can be solved. The evaluation result from this implementation conclude that the principal will keep putting her best effort to maximize her role as leader./Pada masa pandemi Covid-19, sektor pendidikan menjadi salah yang paling terdampak. Pembelajaran jarak jauh menjadi satu- satunya pilihan yang dapat dilakukan pada saat ini. Lembaga-lembaga pendidikan baik itu formal maupun non formal berjuang untuk mempertahankan penyelenggaraan pendidikan dengan cara yang dinilai paling efektif dan efisien. Kepala sekolah menjadi kunci kesuksesan dari kemajuan dan keberlangsungan organisasi yang dipimpinnya. Dengan melakukan identifikasi masalah dan kemudian perumusan langkah-langkah strategis hingga pada penerapannya, kepala sekolah mengambil peran yang dinilai penting. Penelitian ini adalah studi evaluasi yang menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan hasil bahwa peran kepala sekolah dalam penerapan pembelajaran daring pada Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM)XYZ dinilai penting. Kepala Sekolah telah melakukan penerapan langkah- langkah strategis yang sudah dirumuskan bersama- sama dengan tim guna menciptakan proses pembelajaran daring yang efektif dan efisien bagi para peserta didik. Selain itu, dengan penerapan langkah-langkah strategis yang dimaksud, beliau juga menciptakan suasana yang nyaman bagi tim pekerja di bawah pimpinannya. Kendala yang dihadapi pada saat penerapan adalah kendala-kendala teknis yang dapat dicarikan solusinya bersama. Untuk evaluasi dari hasil penerapan tersebut adalah bahwa kepala sekolah akan terus berusaha untuk memperbaiki dan memaksimalkan perannya sebagai pemimpin.
