Abstract

Kompetensi keterampilan koneksi matematis, memecahkan masalah, dan komunikasi matematis sangat penting untuk diajarkan kepada siswa di tiap tingkatan pendidikan. Kompetensi siswa Kelas 1 SD. Royal Tunas Mulia terhadap ketiga keterampilan tersebut rendah. Hal ini terjadi karena guru kurang melibatkan siswa untuk menyelesaikan soal-soal memecahkan masalah dan pembelajaran lebih banyak menekankan pengusaan number facts. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, guru menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran inkuiri terstruktur. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mendiskripsikan langkah-langkah penerapan inkuiri terstruktur dalam tindakan perbaikan; (2) menganalisis perkembangan kompetensi keterampilan koneksi matematis, memecahkan masalah, dan komunikasi matematis para siswa dengan pendekatan inkuiri terstruktur; dan (3) mendeskripsikan kendala-kendala yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan tiga siklus, dengan subyek penelitian adalah 20 siswa Kelas 1 SD. Royal Tunas Mulia. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, catatan lapangan, tes tertulis, dan dokumentasi serta dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) proses penerapan pembelajaran berjalan sesuai dengan langkah-langkah penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran inkuiri terstruktur; (2) terjadi peningkatan kompetensi keterampilan koneksi matematis, memecahkan masalah, dan komunikasi matematis; (3) guru mengatasi beberapa hambatan yaitu masalah waktu dengan mendisain ulang RPP untuk dibagi dalam dua pertemuan, kemampuan bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan para siswa dengan menerapkan teknik tertentu, kesulitan memahami materi dengan mengulang kembali materi yang belum dikuasai, dan mengatasi perbedaan hasil observasi dua observer dengan melakukan moderasi / Mathematical connection, problem solving, and communications skills are very important to teach at school. The ability of the first grade students of SD. Royal Tunas Mulia in those three skills is low. This is because teachers do not teach how to solve word problems and more focus on the mastery of number facts. To overcome the problems, teacher implements structured inquiry-based learning. The aim of the research is to (1) describe the structured inquiry-based learning phases during the improvement actions; (2) analyze the improvement of mathematical connection, problem solving, and mathematical communication skills by implementing structured inquiry-based learning; and (3) describe the obstacles faced. This study consisting of 20 Grade 1 students of SD. Royal Tunas Mulia employed a Classroom Action Research carried out in three cycles. The data was gathered by using observation, field notes, written tests, documentation and was analyzed qualitative descriptive. The results showed that (1) the learning process is based on the phases of structured inquiry-based learning; (2) there is an improvement on the students’ mathematical connection, problem solving, and mathematical connection skills; (3) teacher overcomes some obstacles, such as: time limitation by dividing the lesson plan into two meetings, the students’ ability of asking and answering questions by using certain techniques, re-explanation of the same materials due to lack of students’ understanding the concepts, and the result gap of the two observers by conducting a moderation
