Abstract

The Bible as the absolute truth is the foundation in Christian schools. Therefore, every subject in schools has to rely on the Biblical concept. The purpose of this study is to describe the importance of Biblical concepts in English lessons and discuss the ways to integrate Biblical concepts in the English class. The research method of this research is qualitative descriptive. The results of this research show that integrating Biblical concepts is important because of three reasons: to develop students’ spirituality, teach according to a Christian perspective, and use English to glorify God. By integrating Biblical concepts in English class, students do not only spiritually grow to be a better Christian but also understand the complexity of the English language that has been gifted to humankind. Teachers can use the lesson plan, devotional lecturer, disciplining students based on Biblical concepts, and project-based. The researcher suggests Christian schools make a routine training on how to integrate Biblical concepts in the classroom. For the English teachers, it is suggested to find more references for integrating Biblical concepts. It is also suggested for future researchers to discuss how to integrate a Biblical concept if there are non Christian students. Keywords: Christian schools, English subject, English teachers, integrating Biblical concepts / Alkitab adalah kebenaran absolut yang menjadi fondasi sekolah Kristen. Oleh karena itu, setiap mata pelajaran di sekolah harus mengandalkan konsep Alkitab. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan pentingnya konsep Alkitab di pelajaran Bahasa Inggris dan mendiskusikan cara-cara mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab di kelas Bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab sangat penting oleh karena tiga alasan: untuk mengembangkan spiritual siswa, mengajar berdasarkan perspektif Kristen, dan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris untuk memuliakan Tuhan. Dengan mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab di dalam kelas Bahasa Inggris, siswa tidak akan hanya berkembang di segi spiritual untuk menjadi Kristen yang lebih baik, tapi dapat mengerti akan keindahan Bahasa Inggris yang dihadiahkan kepada manusia. Guru-guru dapat menggunakan RPP, devotional lecturer, saat pendisiplinan siswa, dan project-based. Peneliti menyarankan sekolah Kristen untuk membuat pelatihan rutin tentang bagaimana mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab di dalam kelas. Kepada guru Bahasa Inggris, disarankan untuk menemukan sumber lain tentang bagaimana mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab. Disarankan juga kepada peneliti berikutnya untuk membahas bahaimana mengintegrasikan konsep Alkitab kepada siswa non Kristen.
