Abstract

Student activeness is an important component in the learning process. However, in the practicum that the writer had, it is found that student activeness was very low. Students were inactive in the classroom where students did not respond to the teacher's questions and the students are easily distracted during the learning process. Therefore, Christian teachers must be agents of transformation in delivering meaningful learning. Thus, this research is based on the literature review and data from practicum with descriptive qualitative research methods to see the implementation of meaningful learning in increasing students' activeness. In this paper, meaningful learning is considered as the solution to increasing students' activeness. Students are created in the image of God and for that, students must be responsible for it by actively implementing what they have learned for the glory of God in this world. Through the implementation of meaningful learning, students' activeness is increased during online learning. Lastly, the writer recommends that Christian teachers become agents of transformation in delivering meaningful learning to the classroom. Future researchers should focus on implementing meaningful learning by considering the period to see students' progress.
