Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of analytical thinking skill, learning motivation and conceptual understanding on science of Grade 5 students in XYZ school. This research aims to analyze the development of analytical thinking skills, learning motivation and conceptual understanding on science subject by using flipped classroom model. The method used in this research is classroom action research which consists of three learning cycles with phase 0, phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 of flipped classroom model. The subjects of this research were 17 students in one class. Rubrics are used as the instrument to measure the analytical thinking skill, learning motivation and conceptual understanding. The results show the enhancement from cycle one, two and three. The average score of analytical thinking in cycle one is 49.5, in cycle two is 69.6 and in cycle three is 83.8. The average score of learning motivation in cycle one is 49.0, in cycle two is 66.2, and in cycle three is 84.3. The average score of conceptual understanding in cycle one is 51.5, in cycle two is 70.1 and in cycle three is 85.8. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the flipped classroom model could improve analytical thinking, learning motivation and conceptual understanding. / Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep di kelas 5C sekolah XYZ. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada pelajaran science dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran flipped classroom. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus pembelajaran dengan menggunakan fase 0, fase 1, fase 2, dan fase 3 model pembelajaran flipped classroom. Subjek penelitian adalah 17 siswa dalam satu kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah rubric penilaian untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada siklus 1, 2 dan 3. Nilai rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siklus satu adalah 49.5, pada siklus dua 69.6 dan pada siklus tiga 83.8. Nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar pada siklus satu adalah 49.0, siklus dua 66.2 dan siklus tiga 84.3. Nilai rata-rata penguasaan konsep pada siklus satu adalah 51.5, pada siklus dua 70.1 dan pada siklus tiga 85.8. Dari hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa model pembelajaran flipped classroom dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep.
