Abstract

Awal terbentuknya penelitian ini didasari oleh pernyataan principal Axial Studio bahwa desain interior Axial tidak dapat lepas dari konsep arsitekturnya. Penulis melihat signifikansi konsep arsitektur dan ekspresi interior yang perlu saling mendukung dalam sebuah proyek. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mencari tahu bagaimana Axial Studio mewujudkan sinergi antara konsep arsitektur dan ekspresi interior dalam design development yang mana pada proses ini penulis dapat menganalisis pertimbangan dan keputusan desain yang dibuat desainer sehingga menjadi presentasi visual yang akan dibangun. Penelitian ini menjadi relevan karena dapat meningkatkan nilai arsitektur maupun interior karena memberi pembuktian bahwa kerja sama antar kedua bidang tersebut dapat menghasilkan desain yang berkualitas. Metedologi penelitian ini adalah kualitatif etnografi di mana penulis menjadi pemagang selama delapan bulan di Axial Studio untuk mengumpulkan data. Kemudian, penulis menggunakan metode studi kasus instrumental di mana semua penemuan didapatkan dari analisis tiga ruangan di dalam satu proyek Axial yaitu proyek De Maja. Hasil temuan menjawab rumusan masalah bahkan menghasilkan temuan menarik lainnya karena penelitian tidak hanya menemukan lima poin sinergi saja namun, pra-kondisi sinergi dan dampak sinerginya bagi klien dan desainer Axial juga. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perwujudan kelima temuan sinergi konsep arsitektur dan ekspresi interior merupakan temuan yang tidak kontradiktif satu sama lain dan menjadi salah satu faktor krusial dalam keberhasilan dan aktualisasi diri Axial Studio serta kliennya dari awal sampai masa yang akan datang./ This research was based on Axial Studio’s principal statement that Axial’s interior design cannot escape from their architectural concept. The researcher found the significance of architectural concept and interior expression that needs to support each other in a project. Therefore, this research aims to discover how Axial Studio creates synergy between architectural concept and interior expression in the design development which in this process, the researcher could analyse the consideration and decision made by the designer that results into visual presentation that will be built in real life. This research became relevant as it will increase architectural as well as interior’s value for it gives proof that the collaboration between both fields cause quality design. The research methodology is qualitative ethnography where the researcher became an intern for eight months in Axial Studio to collect data. Then, the researcher used instrumental study case where all the discovery came from the analysis of the three room inside one of Axial’s project which is Project De Maja. The research results are able to answer the research question and on top of that obtain other interesting findings as the research not only discover five points synergy but pre-condition of synergy and synergy’s impact to the client and Axial’s designer. This research concluded that the five points synergy between architectural concept and interior expression did not contradict with each other and becomes one of the crucial factors that leads to Axial’s success along with Axial Studio and client’s self-actualization from the beginning until the future.
