Abstract

YouTube adalah salah satu wadah media sosial yang populer digunakan untuk mencari hiburan, pembelajaran, bahkan sebagai sarana untuk memperoleh penghasilan. Munculnya berbagai kebijakan terbaru dari YouTube serta banyaknya YouTuber baru bermunculan membuat persaingan yang sangat ketat untuk mendapatkan trafik kunjungan yang tinggi. Maka dari itu, YouTuber perlu mengetahui mengenai pengoptimasian fitur-fitur YouTube untuk meningkatkan tingkat pencarian konten YouTube yang dikenal dengan Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi Search Engine Optimization (SEO) yang dilakukan oleh Edho Zell sebagai kreator konten generasi pertama YouTube Indonesia yang terkenal sebelum era selebritas untuk meningkatkan trafik kunjungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi SEO yang dilakukan Edho Zell dalam periode tahun 2015-2019 adalah dengan cara: 1. menentukan judul yang menarik 2. mengisi kolom deskripsi, 3. melakukan tagging, 4. menaruh meta data pada akhir video, dan 5. Spamming keywords yang ternyata berhasil meningkatkan trafik kunjungan pada setiap konten video yang diunggah di kanal YouTube miliknya. Namun, seiring dengan berjalannya waktu terdapat perubahan kebijakan terhadap beberapa SEO YouTube yang tidak dapat diimplementasikan kembali. Diluar implementasi SEO, terdapat beberapa faktor lain yang bisa mendukung meningkatnya trafik kunjungan sebuah video di YouTube antara lain algoritma, trend yang sedang berkembang, personal branding, personal preference dan isi konten. / YouTube is one of the mostly used social media platform in Indonesia to find entertainment, knowledge, and also a means to earn income. The latest policies from YouTube have made up a very tight competition between all YouTubers to get high viewers traffic for their videos. Therefore, YouTubers need to know about optimizing YouTube features to increase the search rate for YouTube content known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of Search Engine Optimization method applied by Edho Zell to increase views and as one of the first generation of Indonesian YouTube content creator. The methodology used in this research was descriptive qualitative and literature study. The result of this research showed that the SEO implementation strategy that Edho Zell applied on his channel during the year of 2015 – 2019 includes: 1. choosing the interesting content title, 2. filling out the description column, 3. tagging, 4. putting metadata at the end of the video, and 5. spamming keywords which were successfully increased the views and traffic on each video that he uploaded on his YouTube channel. Besides SEO implementation, another important factors that could increase video views on YouTube were algorithm, trends, personal branding, personal preference and the video content.
