Abstract

Permasalahan mengenai rendahnya dunia literasi dan minat membaca anak muda di Indonesia memberikan pengaruh besar, terutama pada kebudayaan sastra. Dampak ini membuat karya sastra kurang mendapatkan apresiasi yang layak, sedangkan terdapat seorang sastrawan, Joko Pinurbo, telah menghasilkan karya buku puisi, Telepon Genggam, yang merefleksikan masyarakat urban pada realita sesungguhnya. Meskipun demikian, dewasa muda masa kini cenderung tidak tertarik dalam membaca, dimana dapat disebabkan oleh kurang didampingi aspek visual. Maka dari itu, upaya untuk membangun ketertarikan tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan merancang buku visualisasi puisi. Perancangan akan dilakukan melalui proses Design Thinking yang disandingkan dengan teori semiotika Riffaterre untuk mengkaji puisi. Kemudian, melewati proses analisa, dinyatakan peran ilustrasi dapat meningkatkan minat baca, memudahkan interpretasi dan jembatan imajinasi, serta mengarahkan emosi pembaca. Dengan buku yang bertolak pada permasalahan yang dialami masyarakat urban, seperti refleksi diri dan kritik sosial, maka perancangan visualisasi akan mengarah pada urban itu sendiri dan dilengkapi dengan sifatnya yang rebellious sebagai bentuk kebebasan berekspresi dalam kritik sosial. Melalui perancangan ini, penulis berharap aspek visual dapat menjadi jalan untuk mempermudah dan mengembangkan eksplorasi dalam proses visualisasi dan interpretasi pembaca. Kemudian, disisi lain juga dapat meningkatkan minat baca dewasa muda dan melestarikan karya puisi dari Joko Pinurbo, serta karya-karya sastra di Indonesia. / The low level of literacy and reading interest among young people in Indonesia has a significant impact, particularly on literary culture. This issue has made literary works less appreciated, even when there's a writer, Joko Pinurbo, who has produced a poetry book, Telepon Genggam, which reflects urban society through its reality. However, today's young adults tend to be disinterested in reading, which could be due to a lack of visual appeal. Therefore, attempts to build interest can be made by designing a poetry visualization book. The design will lead to the Design Thinking process and Riffaterre's semiotic theory to interpret poetry. Then, through the analysis process, it is stated that the role of illustration can increase reading interest, facilitate interpretation, bridge the imagination, and direct the reader's emotions. In a manner of a book centered on the urban communities' problems, such as self-reflection and social criticism, the visualization design will lead to the urban itself and its rebellious character as freedom of expression through social criticism. The author hopes that the visual aspect of this design will facilitate and develop exploration in the process of visualization and interpretation for the reader. On the other hand, it can also increase young adults' reading interests and preserve Joko Pinurbo's poetry and other literary works in Indonesia.
