Abstract

Isu krisis iklim semakin mengemuka setelah COVID-19 mewabah. / The issue of the climate crisis has come to the fore after the COVID-19 outbreak. It because COVID-19 was perceived as a spillover effect from climate crisis. The increase in industrial/economic activity with a linear pattern over the last three centuries has confirmed as the root cause of natural damage that triggered the crisis. To date, there is a growing awareness (shifting paradigm) of the world community, especially industry players (agencies), that the use of a linear economic model (existing social knowledge) is no longer beneficial for humans and nature. This awareness drives the reform process within the international regime (structure). As a result, an alternative circular economy model (new social knowledge) is identified as a substitute. However, the transforming process of the economic system is challenging because it requires multi-actor support from multi-sectors in various countries. This research found an indication that the involvement of non-governmental actor at the local level can have a significant impact on implementing the process, as well as contributing to overcoming the climate crisis. As long as the circular economy model can be applied consistently and persistently in various daily human activities. In order to confirm that indication, the researcher uses a constructivist approach based on primary and secondary data collected through interview and document review techniques to be processed into an analytical framework. By applying the relational research method, the researcher tries to confirm these indications through exploratory analysis of a single case study in Indonesia, namely PT Alam Siak Lestari (ASL). As a result, ASL has confirmed to make a significant contribution to overcoming the global climate crisis through the application of knowledge and social practices of the circular economy which is a key element of the green economy model.
