Abstract

God created men and gave language as the tool for men to have fellowship within the community. Community is needed to make the students grow, have good relationship, and collaborate with others. Interdependent is an important part in the community to build good teamwork and collaboration among the group members. However, there are challenges happened in creating interdependent environment such as lack of respect and interactions. Thus, to overcome this problems, jigsaw method is used to improve interdependent learning within the group work. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of modified jigsaw method, elaborate advantages of the implementation of modified jigsaw method, and challenges happened during the implementation of modified jigsaw method within the classroom. The method used in this research is qualitative-descriptive method. The result shows that modified jigsaw method could bring improvement in academic outcomes and skills for the students as well as improve interdependent learning environment. Teacher should maintain the relationship by implementing suitable method. School can have a seminar talking about the importance of interdependent learning to the students. Besides that, the future researcher could examine disadvantages of modified jigsaw method and involve technology to maximize the learning outcomes.
