Abstract

In learning process, students should show an act of obedience through submission to the authority who is the teacher so they can walk in accordance with standard of good behavior. The students must follow each procedure given by the teacher. Based on the observation, there were some misbehaviors appeared in the classroom while the researcher taught English subject. Therefore, the purposes of this research are to know if the implementation of hand signal classroom procedure enhance Grade X IIS students’ discipline at Sekolah Lentera Harapan Kupang and to find out how the implementation of hand signal classroom procedure enhances Grade X IIS students’ discipline at Sekolah Lentera Harapan Kupang. Research method used by the researcher was Class Action Research using Pelton Model (2010). The research was conducted on 13 of August 2018 until 22 of October 2018 at Sekolah Lentera Harapan Kupang. The subject of research was 23 Grade X IIS students. The researcher conducted three times of plan activations. Instruments that used by the researcher to measure the enhancement of students’ discipline and to see how each steps of hand signal classroom procedure was applied were mentor teacher checklist, mentor teacher observation sheet and reflection journal of the researcher. Based on the data analysis, the result showed that the implementation of hand signal classroom procedure can enhance students’ discipline through conducting eight steps. The enhancement can clearly see by the increasing of percentage from each indicator. Students’ self-awareness in the classroom increased from 4.35% to 100%, students’ respect towards others increased from 30.43% to 100 % and students’ ability to listen to teacher’s instruction increased from 54.35% to 100 %./ tunduk pada otoritas yaitu guru agar siswa dapat mengikuti standar perilaku yang baik. Siswa harus mengikuti setiap prosedur yang diberikan guru. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, ada beberapa perilaku menyimpang yang muncul di dalam kelas ketika peneliti mengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jika penerapan prosedur kelas hand signal meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa kelas X IIS di Sekolah Letera Harapan Kupang dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan prosedur kelas hand signal meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa kelas X IIS di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Kupang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah penelitian tindakan kelas Model Pelton (2010). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 13 Agustus- 22 Oktober 2018 di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Kupang. Peneliti melakukan tiga kali penerapan tindakan. Penelitian dilakukan pada 23 siswa kelas X IIS.Instrument yang digunakan oleh peneliti untku mengukur peningkatan dari kedisiplinan siswa dan untuk melihat bagaimana setiap langkah penerapan dari prosedur kelas hand signal telah dilaksanakan adalah checklist guru mentor, lembar observasi guru mentor dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Berdasarkan hasil dari analisis data penerapan prosedur kelas hand signal dapat meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa dengan melaksanakan delapan langkah. Peningkatannya jelas terlihat melalui kenaikan presentase dari setiap indikator. Kesadaran diri siswa di dalam kelas meningkat dari 4.35 % hingga 100 %, rasa hormat siswa terhadap orang lain di dalam kelas meningkat dari 30.43 % hingga 100 % dan kemampuan siswa untuk mendengarkan instruksi guru meningkat dari 54.35% hingga 100 %.
