Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan oleh peneliti di kelas IX-2 SMP Nias, diperoleh data bahwa hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata pelajaran Biologi sangat rendah. Diketahui dari kuis formatif yang diberikan hanya 21% siswa di kelas yang mencapai nilai ketuntasan sekolah yaitu 75 dan ada 3 siswa yang mendapat nilai terendah yaitu 25 dari 100. Hal ini disebabkan siswa tidak memahami materi dengan baik, terlihat dari pertanyaan-pertanyaan mendasar yang ditanyakan berulang kali oleh siswa dan perolehan nilai-nilai siswa yang rendah. Metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share (TPS) dipilih untuk menyelesaikan masalah tersebut. Melalui penerapan metode Think Pair Share (TPS) ini diharapakan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata Biologi dapat meningkat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dikembangkan oleh Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 21 Agustus-3 November 2018, pada kelas IX-2 SMP yang berjumlah 34 siswa pada mata pelajaran Biologi. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data adalah RPP, jurnal refleksi peneliti, umpan balik mentor, lembar observasi guru mentor dan lembar tes tertulis siswa. Penerapan metode pembelajaran koopertif tipe TPS dilakukan dengan melaksanakan enam tahapan yang dilakukan selama dua kali tindakan. Pencapaian persentase keberhasilan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada tindakan pertama adalah 91% dan tindakan kedua 100%. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang dilakukan, disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada ranah C1 dan C2 kelas IX-2 SMP di Nias./ Based on observations in class IX-2 Junior High School in Nias, it was found that the results of the cognitive achievement of students in Biology class is very low. It was found out from the formative quiz that only 21% of students in the class achieved school completion scores of 75 and there were 3 students who received the lowest score of 25 out of 100. This is because the students did not understand the material well. It can be seen from the fundamental questions that were asked repeatedly by students and students’ low learning results. Cooperative learning method Think Pair Share (TPS) was chosen to enhance students’ cognitive learning results. Research method that used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) that was developed by Robert P. Pelton. This research was held on August 21st - November 3rd 2018, in class IX-2 which consists of 34 students Biology class. Instruments that used for data collection are lesson plan, journal reflection, mentor’s feedback, mentor’s observation sheet and students’ test sheet. The application of TPS method is done by implementing the six stages on two actions. The achievement of the learning results of cognitive success percentage of students on the first action is 91% and 100% in the second action. Based on research and analysis, researchers concluded that cooperative learning method TPS can increase students’ cognitive achievements in field C1 and C2 of grade IX-2 Junior High School in Nias.
