Abstract

Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut peneliti memilih metode Make a Match sebagai bentuk penyelesaian. Metode Make a Match dilakukan dalam delapan tahap yaitu, 1) Membagi siswa ke dalam dua kelompok, 2) Siswa berkumpul dengan kelompoknya, 3) Membagikan kartu, 4) Pengerjaan soal dan pencarian pasangan, 5) Siswa berdiskusi, 6) Memberikan pasangan kartu kepada guru, 7) Pertukaran kartu, 8) Memulai kembali babak kedua dengan langkah yang sama./ Students are created by God as active individuals according to His image and likeness. Therefore, students are expected to have a contribution to be actively involved when learning in the classroom. However, based on observations by the researcher, there are still some problems related to the activeness of student learning. Students tend to only receive materials from the teacher. Very few students ask or answer questions. Some are sleepy or bored during the lesson, being passive when having a discussion, and are unresponsive to instructions. Based on those problems, the researcher chose the Make a Match method. This research aims to find out whether the application of the Make a Match method can improve the activeness of student learning and to know the steps to apply the Make a Match method. The research method used is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) by Pelton (2010) with five stages, namely issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcomes assessment. The research was conducted on 16 female students and 7 male students in grade 10 in one of the Christian high schools in Tangerang on August 21 to September 6, 2018. The method was applied twice in two meetings with a consistent result of students being active. These results indicate that the Make a Match method can increase the activeness of student learning. The Make a Match method is applied in eight steps: 1) students are divided into two groups, 2) students gather with groups, 3) students receive cards, 4) studetns work on questions and find partners, 5) students discuss, 6) students receive pairs of cards to the teacher, 7) students exchange cards, 8) students repeat the second round with the same steps.
