Abstract

Berkaca dari peringkat kemampuan numerasi Indonesia yang dikeluarkan PISA pada 2018, Indonesia berada pada kategori low performance. Rendahnya minat belajar matematika menjadi salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan rendahnnya kemampuan matematika siswa Indonesia. Minat menjadi salah satu hal yang sangat penting karena minat dartikan sebagai kecenderungan hati untuk mau belajar, serta pendorong siswa untuk bersikap aktif dalam pembelajaran. Masalah rendahnya minat ini jugalah yang ditemukan oleh penulis di salah satu sekolah di Tangerang Selatan. Matematika merupakan bentuk kebesaran Allah dan matematika sudah ada dalam pemikiran Allah sebelum dunia dijadikan, sehingga minat terhadap matematika berarti sama dengan minat untuk melihat kebesaran Allah melalui matematika. Perlu adanya inovasi untuk mengupayakan minat belajar matematika siswa karena minat merupakan salah satu penggerak siswa untuk bertindak dalam kelas. Salah satunya dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran discovery learning berbasis smartphone.. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah deskriptif-kualitatif dengan tujuan penulisan untuk menganalisis penerapan discovery learning dalam mengupayakan minat belajar matematika. Melalui tulisan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan discovery learning mampu mengupayakan minat belajar siswa yang terlihat melalui indikator yang muncul dalam proses pembelajaran seperti keaktifan siswa, partisipasi siswa, dan inisiatif siswa. Saran yang diberikan oleh penulis untuk penerapan model pembelajaran ini adalah pengawasan ekstra terhadap siswa juga penting dilakukan agar siswa tidak mengerjakan atau membuka sesuatu di luar kepentingan pembelajaran melalui smartphone mereka./ Reflecting on the ranking of Indonesia's numeracy capabilities issued by PISA in 2018, Indonesia is in the low performance category. The low interest in learning mathematics is one of the factors that causes the low mathematical ability of Indonesian students. This low interest problem was also found by the author in one school in South Tangerang. Mathematics is a form of God's greatness and mathematics has existed in God's mind before the world was created, so that interest in mathematics means the same as an interest in seeing God's greatness through mathematics. There needs to be innovation to seek students' interest in learning mathematics because interest is one of the drivers of students to act in class. One of them is by applying a smartphone-based discovery learning model. The method used in this paper is descriptive-qualitative with the aim of writing to analyze the application of discovery learning in seeking interest in learning mathematics. Through this paper, it can be concluded that the application of discovery learning is able to seek student interest in learning which is seen through indicators that appear in the learning process such as student activity, student participation, and student initiative. The suggestion given by the author for the application of this learning model is that extra supervision of students is also important so that students do not do or open things outside of their learning interests through their smartphones.
