Abstract

Christian Education is the Christ-centered and holistic learning that leads the understanding about the Creator. It has purposes to help, guide and make the students be the disciples of Jesus Christ. It can be reached through teaching and learning in the classroom, especially in the English subject or lesson. There are many strategies that can help to reach the purposes through the learning environment, seating arrangement and learning media. In fact, everything affects the teaching and learning process such as the learning environment, the seating arrangement, and the learning media in one Christian school in West Jakarta and different from the expectation. The finding and discussion show if the role of the teacher is the most important role for the students to reach the purposes in English lesson through the learning environment. In conclusion, the learning environment works in the teaching and learning process especially in teaching English, the new insight is the teacher should know what they do to cope the real situation and condition. The recommendation for the English teachers is making the creative and unique teaching and learning, then using the learning environment in the classroom, for the school is to held program about professional development for the teacher.
