Abstract

Adolescence is an important period during the span of human life because humans experience the formation of themselves into young adults. During the formation period, adolescents are prone to emotional turmoil that can be caused by stress. Excessive stress can have a negative impact on mental health such as depression or be taken out through actions such as suicide. Stress can be caused by emotion regulation in adolescents which is still minimal. The ability to regulate emotions can be caused by many factors, one of the theoretical factors regarding family dynamics, Differentiation of Self can explain its relationship with a person's emotion regulation strategy. This study aims to see the effect of Differentiation of Self on Emotional Regulation on Adolescents in Jabodetabek. The measurement tool used to measure the Differentiation of Self is the Differentiation of Self Inventory-Short Form (DSI-SF), while the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) is used to measure Emotional Regulation.
