Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain deeper insight into the factors that influence the emergence of addiction to online games, especially Mobile Legends: Bang - Bang (MLBB) which is associated with mental health disorders. In this study, the MLBB players in range of adolescent and young adults were selected as research subjects. The factors analyzed in this study are embeddedness, self-efficacy, and perceived enjoyment in MLBB online game addiction among the categorized research subjects. There are four hypotheses in this study. The first three hypotheses, which is embeddedness, self-efficacy, and perceived enjoyment, have a positive relationship with MLBB game addiction. The fourth hypothesis states that there is a positive relationship between MLBB game addiction and mental health disorders. To obtain research data, a questionnaire method was used which involved respondents with the following criteria: they are MLBB game players domiciled in Indonesia, within the age range of 15-26 years. Based on the responses from 230 respondents, the four hypotheses were tested using the PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling) method. The processing results show that there is a relationship in each variable, both with moderate and high levels of influence. The level of influence between variables in the moderate category includes: embeddedness to MLBB game addiction, self-efficacy with MLBB game addiction, and perceived enjoyment with MLBB game addiction. Meanwhile, the relationship between MLBB game addiction variables has a high effect on the emergence of mental health problems.
