Abstract

Daya ingat yang baik pada dasarnya akan membantu dalam proses menerima, menyimpan, dan menyampaikan informasi dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil observasi didapati bahwa kemampuan siswa belum maksimal dalam mengingat informasi dan kendala seperti ini muncul beberapa kali dalam proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan kendala-kendala yang terjadi, maka dalam penelitian ini diterapkan tindakan berupa mnemonik tipe rhymes and song. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan daya ingat siswa dan mengetahui tahapan penerapan mnemonik tipe rhymes and song. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang telah dikembangkan oleh Pelton. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 26 siswa kelas VI di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Rantepao. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah RPP, jurnal refleksi, lembar umpan balik mentor, lembar checklist mentor, dan lembar tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, menunjukkan bahwa penerapan mnemonik tipe rhymes and song mampu meningkatkan daya ingat siswa kelas VI salah satu SD Kristen di Rantepao. Adapun tahapan-tahapan mnemonik Tipe rhymes and song yang diterapkan adalah mempersiapkan materi yang akan dipelajari, membuat hubungan konsep-konsep dalam materi, mengembangkan gambaran hubungan materi , dan mengingat kembali (recall)./A good memorizing ability will basically help in the process of receiving, storing, and conveying information. Based on the result of the observation, it was found that students' abilities were not optimal in remembering information and it appeared frequently and repeatedly in the learning process. Based on the issue that occurred, researcher applied mnemonic rhymes and song to improve students' memory and to know the stages of mnemonic rhymes and song implementation. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which has been developed by Pelton. The research subjects were 26 sixth grade students at one of the Christian schools in Rantepao. The data sources used were lesson plans, reflection journals, mentor feedback sheets, mentor checklist sheets, and test sheets. Based on the results of the research, the application of the mnemonic rhymes and song could improve the memory of sixth grade students in one of the Christian primary schools in Rantepao. The mnemonic stages of rhymes and song that were applied are preparing the material, making connections between concepts in the material, developing a picture of material relations, and recalling.
