Abstract

Pemahaman konsep penting dalam pelajaran IPA karena mengajarkan berbagai pengetahuan yang dapat mengembangkan nalar, analisa sehingga semua persoalan yang berkaitan dengan alam dapat dimengerti. Berdasarkan hasil observasi peneliti di kelas VI salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA rendah. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil tes yang menunjukkan 14 siswa atau sebesar 41.2% siswa belum mencapai KKM. Selain itu juga terlihat dari kegiatan belajar sehari-sehari, siswa sulit menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diberikan oleh guru. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian tentang penerapan metode latihan berkelompok yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VI pada mata pelajaran IPA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 29 Agustus 2019 hingga 10 Oktober 2019. Tempat penelitian di salah satu sekolah Kristen Palopo dengan subyek penelitian 34 siswa. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak dua kali penerapan dengan instrumen penelitian yaitu: RPP, refleksi, umpan balik mentor, observasi mentor dan rekan sejawat dan di analisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik latihan berkelompok dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa sebesar penerapan I sebesar 70.58% dan penerapan II sebesar 82.4% dengan memenuhi langkah�langkah penerapan teknik latihan berkelompok sebagai berikut: 1) Guru membagi siswa ke dalam 5 kelompok heterogen, 2) guru menjelaskan langkah-langkah diskusi kelompok, 3) guru memberikan bahan diskusi berupa pertanyaan, 4) guru memberi waktu untuk berdiskusi, 5) guru memberikan pertanyaan-pertanyaan kepada setiap kelompok sesuai dengan yang sudah didiskusikan, 6) guru memberikan penjelasan singkat dan kesimpulan, 7) guru memberikan tes untuk mengecek pemahaman siswa./Understanding of important concepts in science lessons because it teaches a variety of knowledge that can develop reason, analysis so that all issues related to nature can be understood. Based on observations of researchers in class VI, one of the Christian schools in Palopo understands the concept of students in low science subjects. This can be seen from the results of tests that show 14 students or as much as 41.2% of students have not reached KKM. Besides that, it can also be seen from daily learning activities, students find it difficult to answer the questions given by the teacher. Therefore a study was conducted on the application of group training methods that aimed to improve the understanding of the concept of class VI students in science subjects. The research method used is the Pelton Action Class Research model. The research was conducted on 29 August 2019 until 10 October 2019. The research site was in one of the Christian Palopo schools with 34 research subjects. The research was conducted twice with the application of research instruments, namely: lesson plans, reflections, mentor feedback, mentor observation and colleagues and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the application of group training technique can improve students' conceptual understanding of the application of I by 70.58% and the application of II by 82.4% by fulfilling the steps for applying group training technique as follows: 1) The teacher divides students into 5 heterogeneous groups, 2) explain the steps of group discussion, 3) the teacher gives discussion material in the form of questions, 4) the teacher gives time to discuss, 5) the teacher gives questions to each group according to what has been discussed, 6) the teacher gives a brief explanation and conclusions, 7) the teacher gives a test to check students' understanding.
