Abstract

One of the efforts to develop the children's English vocabulary and social emotional skills at the XYZ English course is by applying the application of the Index Card Match (ICM) method. Their low English vocabulary mastery is due to the lack of knowledge of English. This has caused the children to feel inferior to get along so that they are less able to socialize with others. This study aims to determine the application of the ICM method to develop the children's English vocabulary and social emotional skills. The CAR research design with three cycles was used in this study and the sample consisted of 8 children, aged 6 to 8 years. The results have indicated that there is an increase in the average score of their English vocabulary mastery in Cycles One to Three, namely: 3.5; 6.6; and 9.6. There is an increase in the average score of the social emotional skills in Cycles One to Three, namely: 7.6; 13.7; and 19.6. The average score of their English vocabulary and social emotional skills in Cycle Three has reached the standard of success, namely a minimum score of 75% or a total score of 9 from the maximum score on the English vocabulary indicator and a minimum score of 75% or a total score of 18 from the maximum score on the social emotional indicator. As a result, it can be concluded that the application of the ICM method has improved the 6-to-8-year old children’s vocabulary and social emotional skills at the XYZ English Course. / Salah satu upaya untuk mengembangkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan keterampilan sosial emosional anak pada kursus XYZ adalah dengan menerapkan metode Index Card Match (ICM). Penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris yang rendah disebabkan oleh kurangnya pengetahuan bahasa Inggris anak. Hal ini menyebabkan anak merasa minder untuk bergaul sehingga kurang mampu berorganisasi dengan orang lain. Penelitian PTK dengan menggunakan tiga siklus dan sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 8 anak, usia 6-t tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan skor rata-rata penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris mereka pada siklus pertama, kedua sampai ketiga, yaitu: 3.5; 6.6; dan 9.6. Terdapat peningkatan skor rata-rata keterampilan sosial emosional emosional pada siklus pertama, kedua dan ketiga, yaitu: 7.6; 13.7; dan 19.6. Skor rata-rata kosakata bahasa Inggris dan kemampuan sosial emosional mereka pada siklus ketiga sudah mencapai standar keberhasilan yaitu skor minimal 75% atau skor total 9 dari skor maksimal pada indikator kosakata bahasa Inggris dan skor minimal 75% atau skor total 18 dari skor maksimal pada indikator sosial emosional. Hasilnya, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan ICM telah meningkatkan kosakata dan keterampilan sosial emosional anak usia 6-8 tahun di Kursus Bahasa Inggris XYZ.
