Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman kemampuan Bahasa Inggris memiliki peran penting, karena Bahasa Inggris merupakan Bahasa Internasional yang digunakan hampir di seluruh dunia. Terlebih untuk bidang Perhotelan dan Pariwisata, kemampuan berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris menjadi kemampuan wajib yang harus dikuasai secara khusus oleh para Mahasiswa Perhotelan. Rancangan Buku Modul ini disusun dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pembelajaran dan pengetahuan terkait penggunaan Bahasa Inggris Komunikasi dalam kegiatan Perhotelan, sehingga Mahasiswa dapat memahami kosakata di sekitar unit tempat mereka belajar bahkan ketika sudah bekerja, mampu berkomunikasi menggunakan Bahasa Inggris dengan jelas, benar dan penuh percaya diri. Rancangan Buku Modul Bahasa Inggris Komunikasi Perhotelan terdiri dari 12 unit yang dibagi berdasarkan situasi dan kondisi yang disesuaikan dengan tempat dimana mereka bekerja. Materi yang digunakan dalam perancangan Buku Modul Bahasa Inggris Komunikasi Perhotelan diadaptasi dari Buku yang berjudul “ready to order” karya Anne Baoude, Montserrat & Anna Inesta, (2002) yang dilengkapi dengan media audio yang diadaptasi dari Cambridge Advanced 3Th. Proses evaluasi dilakukan secara online dengan melibatkan 60 orang responden yang berasal dari Mahasiswa Perhotelan, hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden setuju dengan keseluruhan indikator yang diajukan. Artinya Rancangan Buku Modul ini dapat dikatakan layak untuk dijadikan media penunjang dalam kegiatan perkuliahan Bahasa Inggris Komunikasi Perhotelan./The ability to speak English has an important role, because English is an international language that is used almost all over the world. Especially for the tourism and hospitality sector, the ability to communicate using English is a mandatory skill for hospitality students. The design of module is structured with the aim of providing lessons and knowledge related to the use of English in hospitality activities, so that students can understand the vocabulary around the unit where they work, are able to communicate using English clearly, correctly and confidently. The design of the Hospitality Communication English module consists of 12 units which are divided based on situations and conditions that are adapted to the place where they work. The material used in the design of the hospitalization communication English module was adapted from a module entitled "ready to order" by Anne Boude, Montserrat & Anna Inesta, (2002) equipped with audio media adapted from Cambridge Advanced 3Th. The evaluation process was carried out online involving 60 respondents from Pelita Harapan University Hospitality students, the evaluation results showed that the majority of respondents agreed with all the indicators proposed. This means that this module can be said to be feasible to be used as a supporting medium in hospitality communication English lecture activities.
