Abstract

Kemampuan mengingat adalah kemampuan ranah kognitif yang paling mendasar untuk dapat mempelajari Biologi dengan mudah. Faktanya yang ditemukan di kelas XI IPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam mengingat dikatakan rendah pada materi sistem peredaran darah. Metode mnemonik dipilih untuk membantu siswa memiliki kemampuan mengingat pada materi sistem peredaran darah pada dengan baik. Penelitian dilaksanakan berdasarkan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton dan diterapkan di kelas XI IPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo yang melibatkan 10 siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak dua penerapan, dimulai pada 9 September 2018 sampai 1 November 2018. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), lembar umpan balik, lembar hasil tes siswa dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penerapan dan langkah-langkah metode mnemonik yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mengingat siswa kelas XI IPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode mnemonik dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mengingat siswa kelas XI IPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo. Peningkatan yang terjadi dapat dilihat dari kenaikan persentase setiap indikator kemampuan mengingat dari penerapan 1 dan penerapan 2. Adapun tahapan metode mnemonik yaitu menyiapkan materi yang akan dipelajari, menghubungkan materi untuk membuat suatu kalimat, mempertajam daya ingat serta melakukan latihan mengulang. Latihan mengulang adalah kunci agar informasi dapat disimpan pada long-term memory sehingga mampu mendukung kemampuan mengingat pada siswa./ Memory skill is the most basic skill in cognitive field to learn Biology comfortably. However, it was found that grade XI Science in one of Christian Schools in Palopo showed their low memory skill in blood circulation topic. Mnemonic method was chosen to help students to have memory skill in blood circulation topic well. The research was conducted based on Pelton model of Classroom Action Research (CAR) and was implemented in grade XI Science in one of Christian Schools in Palopo which involved 10 students. The research was conducted in two implementations, started from September 9, 2018 until November 1, 2018. The research instruments used are Lesson Plans, Feedback sheet, students’ test result, and researcher’s reflection journal. Furthermore, the purpose of this research were to know whether the implementation of mnemonic method and its steps could improve students’ memory skills in grade XI Science in one of Christian Schools in Palopo or not. The result shows that mnemonic method can improve students’ memory skill of grade XI Science in one of Christian Schools in Palopo. The improvement happened can be seen from the increase of each indicator’s percentage of memory skill from the first and the second implementation. Meanwhile, the steps of mnemonic method are delivering materials which are going to be learned, connecting materials to make a sentence, sharpening memory, then doing repeating exercise. Repeating exercise is the key so the information can be stored in the students’ long-term memory in order to support their memory skill.
