Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu pencapaian pembelajaran yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa. Siswa harus memaksimalkan kapasitas yang Allah telah anugerahkan sebagai bentuk ucapan syukur kepada sang Pencipta. Hasil observasi yang dilakukan peneliti di kelas VII SMPK YSKI Semarang menunjukkan bahwa masalah yang dihadapi ialah rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, peneliti mengambil model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share sebagai solusi dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 10 Oktober 2018 -31 Oktober 2018 terhadap 23 siswa kelas VII. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi mentor, lembar tes siswa, lembar angket dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan penerapan TPS meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dengan menerapkan langkah-langkah: 1) tahap pendahuluan yaitu penyampaian apersepsi dan materi; 2) think yaitu penyelesaian soal oleh siswa secara individu; 3) pair yaitu diskusi secara berpasangan dengan teman kelompok; 4) share yaitu diskusi dengan kelompok lain dan menyampaikan jawaban di depan kelas; serta 5) penghargaan yaitu memberikan penghargaan kepada siswa baik individu maupun kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dari pra penerapan dengan tingkat persentase sebesar 17%, penerapan I meningkat menjadi 52% dan penerapan II meningkat menjadi 65%. Penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa jika setiap tahapan dilaksanakan dengan baik, hal ini juga didukung dengan perbaikan-perbaikan yang telah dilakukan pada tindakan II yang membantu siswa untuk melewati setiap tahapan sehingga proses siswa dalam mengkonstruksi pemahamannya juga lebih maksimal./ Conceptual understanding is one of the learning achivements that must be possessed by students. Students must maximize the capacity that God has given as a form of gratitude to the creator. The result of the observation made by researcher in the grade VII of YKSI Junior High School Semarang showed that the problem faced was the low understanding of student concepts. Based on the problem, the researcher took the cooperative learning model think pair share as a solution to overcome theseproblem. The research method used is the classroom action research according to Pelton. The research was conducted on October 10 to October 30, 2018 toward 23 students of grade VII. The sources of the research are mentor feedback sheets, students test sheets, questionnaire sheets, and reflection journal. The result of the analysis show that the implementation of TPS can improve students’ conceptual understanding by implementing steps: 1) the preliminary which is convey to the apperception and the matery, 2) think, which is the problem solving by students individually, 3) pair which is discussion in pairs with a group friends, 4) share, which is discussion with other groups and deliver answer in front of the class, and 5) reward, which is give awards to students bath individuals and groups. The result of the research indicates that presentation rate of students conceptual understanding 15,17% increased to 52% in application one and in application two increased to 65%. The application of the cooperative learning type think pair share can improve students understanding of the concept if each stage is carried out well, this is also supported by improvements that have been made inn action II that help students to pass each stage so that the students process in constructing their understanding is more maximum.
