Abstract
Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu aspek yang perlu dimiliki oleh siswa setelah proses belajar. Adanya pemahaman konsep akan membuat proses belajar lebih bermakna. Hasil observasi menunjukkan siswa kelas VII SKKK Kosambi III ternyata kesulitan memahami konsep. Berdasarkan fakta tersebut, penelitian kemudian dilakukan dengan menerapkan metode diskusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa serta mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode diskusi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 3 September hingga 8 Oktober 2018, terdiri atas dua kali pelaksanaan tindakan dengan melibatkan 18 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah RPP, lembar tes, lembar observasi, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan metode diskusi dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Pada pelaksanaan tindakan I jumlah siswa yang memenuhi KKM sebanyak lima siswa, setelah pelaksanaan tindakan II meningkat menjadi sepuluh siswa. Secara keseluruhan sebanyak 15 siswa telah memiliki nilai yang terus meningkat pada setiap pelaksanaan tindakan. Langkah-langkah metode diskusi yang digunakan adalah 1) pembagian kelompok yang dipimpin oleh ketua kelompok, 2) menentukan tujuan dan topik, 3) pengarahan, 4) diskusi kelompok 5) diskusi dilaksanakan dengan topik tetap terarah, 6) kelompok menyusun kesimpulan, 7) guru memimpin diskusi kelas, 8) kesimpulan, 9) evaluasi./ Conceptual understanding is one of the aspects that student must have after the learning process. The Conceptual understanding will make the learning process more meaningful. The result of the observations showed that students in class VII SKKK Kosambi III have difficulties in understanding the concept. Based on that fact, this research will be applied by discussion method. This research to aims the improvement of students conceptual understanding and known the steps of discussion method. The method in this research is a classroom action research by Robert P. Pelton models. This research was conducted on 3rd September until 8th October 2018, consisting of two session planning activation with 18 students as a subject of this research. The instruments for this research are lesson plan, students’ test sheet, teaching mentor’s observation sheet, and researcher’s reflection journal. The result of this research show that the discussion method could improve students conceptual understanding. For the plan activation I, there were five students was passed by the KKM, then continue increase for the plan activation II to ten students. Overall, there were 15 students that had an increasing value in every plan activation. The steps of the discussion method used are 1) division of groups led by the group leader, 2) determining goals and topics, 3) direction, 4) group discussion 5) discussion carried out with the topic still directed, 6) groups compiling conclusions, 7) teacher leads class discussion, 8) conclusions, 9) evaluation.
