Abstract

Kata Kunci: Memelihara anjing, tingkat stres, pandemi COVID-19//Background: Previous studies have proven that stress levels are higher among medical students, and show that the pandemic has a significant correlation with stress levels. One way people use to reduce their stress levels is by getting a dog. However, previous research on the relationship between keeping a dog and stress levels has shown inconsistent results. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between owning a dog with stress levels. Methods: This research used unpaired categorical comparative analytic method with cross-sectional design. The total respondents to this study were 130 respondents who met the inclusion criteria, in which the respondent's data was taken from an online questionnaire. Respondent data was processed by chi-square test using SPSS 25. Results of data analysis: The relationship between keeping a dog and stress levels based on Perceived Stress Scale has a significant relationship, seen from the p value of 0.0437 (p <0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between raising a dog and stress levels during the Covid-19 pandemic for UPH FK pre-clinical students class of 2019-2021. Keywords: Owning dogs, stress level, COVID-19 pandemic
