Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan bagian dari tujuan pembelajaran yang perlu dikuasai pada mata pelajaran IPA. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan peneliti selama pembelajaran IPA kelas VII di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo, diketahui bahwa karakteristik siswa adalah menyukai belajar di dalam kelompok. Peneliti menemukan siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep-konsep pada pelajaran IPA. Hal tersebut terlihat ketika review pelajaran peneliti menemukan bahwa terdapat siswa yang tidak dapat menjawab pertanyaan dengan indikator soal menyebutkan, menjelaskan, dan memberikan contoh. Karakteristik dari model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray adalah memungkinkan terjadinya kerjasama di antara siswa dalam sebuah kelompok dan berorientasi pada keterlibatan siswa. Peneliti berpikiran bahwa terdapat kesamaan antara karakteristik siswa dan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray sehingga peneliti menyusun penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII pada topik pencemaran lingkungan di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo dan mengetahui langkah langkah penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII pada topik pencemaran lingkungan di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model yang dikemukakan oleh Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Agustus sampai 26 September 2018 dengan subjek penelitian 24 siswa kelas VII di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo. Adapun sumber data pada penelitian ini adalah RPP, jurnal refleksi peneliti, umpan balik mentor, tes, dan angket siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII pada topik pencemaran lingkungan di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo dengan persentase sebesar 25% pada indikator pertama; 79,17% pada indikator kedua; 20,84% dan 8,33% pada indikator ketiga./ Understanding of concept is part of the learning objective that is very important to be mastered in learning science. Based on the result of researcher’s observation during the learning activity in grade VII science class in one of the Christian schools in Palopo, it was found that the students like to work in group. Researcher found students had difficulty in understanding of concepts in science lessons. It could be seen when the researcher was reviewing the lesson, found that there were students who could not answer questions based on indicators used which were mentioning, explaining, and giving example. The characteristic of cooperative learning model type Two Stay Two Stray is to allow collaboration between students in a group and oriented towards student involvement. The researchers think that there are similiarities between the characteristic of students and the cooperative learning model of Two Stay Two Stray type so that tehe researcher compiles this study with the aims to find out the implementation of the cooperative learning model type Two Stay Two Stray to improve students’ understanding of concepts about a topic which was environmental pollution. Furthermore, the steps used in the implementation of TSTS could improve students’ conceptual understanding. The research method used in this research is a classroom action research model by Robert P. Pelton. The research was conducted from August 20th to September 26th2018 with research subject which is 22 number of students grade VII at a Christian school in Palopo. Moreover, the sources of data used in this research are lesson plan, researcher’s journal reflection, mentor feedback, test, and students’ questionnaire. The result of this research showed that the implementation of cooperative learning model type Two Stay Two Stray could improve student’s conceptual understanding about a topic which is environmental pollution in one Christian school in Palopo with a percentage of 25% in the first indicator; 79,17% in the second indicator, 20,84% and 8,33% in the third indicator.
