Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan menganalisis, mengkritisi, dan mengevaluasi informasi-informasi yang diterima. Pada proses pembelajaran ditemukan peserta didik kelas XI IIS mengalami kesulitan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran Geografi. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya kegiatan pembelajaran yang meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis sehingga peserta didik terbiasa dengan kondisi menerima informasi yang diberikan guru melalui ceramah di kelas. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menerapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri yang bertujuan membangun kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) menurut Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian ini berlangsung pada 13 September sampai 25 Oktober 2018 di SLH Jatiagung dengan melibatkan 20 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah RPP, jurnal refleksi, lembar observasi, lembar tes, dan lembar wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase per indikator pada penerapan pertama yaitu menentukan masalah 82%, menjelaskan dengan gagasan yang relevan 84%, memberikan argumentasi, menganalisis, dan mengkritisi masalah utama yang dibahas 73%, mengasosiasi pengetahuan awal 72%, dan membuat kesimpulan 67%. Sedangkan, persentase pada penerapan kedua dengan indikator yang sama yaitu 88%, 84%, 78%, 77%, 75%. Melalui data tersebut dan keseluruhan instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas XI IIS pada mata pelajaran Geografi./ Critical thinking is the skill of analyzing, criticize, and evaluating information. In the process of teaching and learning, it was found that the students of XI IIS had difficulty in thinking critically. The issue occurred because the students lacked the learning activities that enhanced their critical thinking skill. The students also got used to the conventional direct teaching style where they receive information from their teachers without analyzing and filtering them. Thus, the inquiry learning model was implemented to help students improve in their critical thinking skill. The methodology of this research is the classroom action research (CAR) model, introduced by Robert P. Pelton. The research took place from September 13th to October 25th, 2018 in SLH Jatiagung, involving 20 students. The instruments utilized in the research were: Lesson Plan, Teacher-as researcher reflection journal, observation sheet, and students’ interview. The data of the research showed that in the first implementation, students’ achievement in each indicator are: 82% for issue identification, 84% for giving relevant arguments, 73% for criticizing the main issue, 72 % for associating new knowledge with basic knowledge, and 67% in drawing conclusion. In the second implementation, students’ percentage in the same indicators are: 88%, 84%, 78%, 77%, and 75% consecutively. Referring to the data, it can be concluded that the implementation of inquiry learning improved XI IIS students’ critical thinking skill in Geography subject.
