Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas permasalahan tentang keterampilan komunikasi matematis siswa secara tertulis di kelas XII IPS 2 yang masih kurang. Hal ini didasarkan pada hasil post-test yang dilakukan oleh peneliti dengan menggunakan penilaian rubrik. Sebagian besar siswa belum mampu menuliskan ide matematika ke dalam bentuk gambar (drawing), menuliskan ide matematika ke dalam model matematika (mathematical expression) dan menjelaskan prosedur penyelesaian dari suatu permasalahan matematika. Keterampilan komunikasi bermanfaat bagi siswa dalam membagikan ide dan pemahamannya kepada orang lain secara jelas dan meyakinkan terlebih pada saat siswa ditantang untuk berpikir dan bernalar tentang matematika secara lisan maupun tertulis. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi matematis. Adapun tindakan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi matematis siswa secara tertulis adalah penggunaan Lembar Kerja Siswa yang berisi tentang ringkasan materi, tugas, petunjuk pembelajaran dan langkah-langkah untuk menyelesaikan tugas dan berguna sebagai pedoman dalam mengajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas berdasarkan Pelton. Penelitian ini terdiri lima tahap yaitu issue identification (identifikasi masalah), data collection (pengumpulan data), action planning (perencanaan tindakan), plan activation (pelaksanaan tindakan), dan outcomes asessment (hasil penilaian). Penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tindakan yang melibatkan 10 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi dan tes. Keseluruhan data instrumen tersebut menunjukkan hasil bahwa penggunaan Lembar Kerja Siswa dapat meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi matematis siswa secara tertulis pada kelas XII IPS 2 pada pelajaran Matematika khususnya materi Program Linear. / This research discusses the problem of students' mathematical communication skill in writing in XII Social Science 2 class which is still lacking. This is based on the results of the post-test conducted by the researcher using the rubric assessment. Most of students were not able to write mathematical ideas in the form of drawing, write mathematical ideas into mathematical expression and explain the procedure for solving a mathematical problem. Communication skill is useful for students in sharing their ideas and understanding others clearly and convincingly especially when students are challenged to think and reason about mathematics verbally or in writing. Therefore, it is important to improve mathematical communication skill. The action taken by the researcher to improve students' mathematical communication skill in writing was the implementation of student worksheet which contained of the summary of material, assignments, learning instructions and steps to complete the task and was used as guideline in teaching. The research method used in this study is classroom action research according to Pelton. This research consisted of five stages, that are issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcomes asessment. This study consisted of 3 plan activations involving 10 students. The instruments used in this research are lesson plan, mentor feedback, reflection journal and test. The entire data collected from the instruments showed that the implementation of student worksheet can improve students' mathematical communication skill in writing in XII Social Science 2 class on Mathematics, specifically in Linear Program topic.
