Abstract

Hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas VII di SMPK Medan masih tergolong rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya adalah metode pembelajaran yang masih bersifat konvensional. Siswa perlu meningkatkan hasil belajar mereka sehingga peneliti memilih untuk melakukan penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa dalam pelajaran Biologi dengan menggunakan metode Numbered Heads Together (NHT) terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Oktober sampai November 2015 di SMPK Medan. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian jenis kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII A dan VII B dengan teknik sampling jenuh. Kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII A sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil uji-t sebelum diberi perlakuan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa pada kedua kelas sama. Kelas kemudian diberi perlakuan yakni eksperimen menggunakan metode NHT dan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Pengolahan data post-test menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif yang signifikan dari penggunaan metode NHT dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Peningkatan hasil belajar dapat dilihat dari rerata N-Gain pada kelas NHT 0.39 tergolong kategori sedang dan pada kelas ceramah 0.09 kategori rendah. Pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen memiliki hasil belajar yang berbeda signifikan. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode ini dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas VII di SMPK Medan. / Students grade VII’s cognitive learning outcomes at SMPK Medan were relatively low. It was caused by many factors, one of them was the learning method which was still conventional. Students were needed to improve their learning outcomes, so researcher decided to make the research with purpose was to improve students’ learning outcomes at grade VIII of SMPK Medan by using Numbered Heads Together (NHT) method. The research had been conducted from October to November 2015 at SMPK Medan. The research methodology was used quasi�experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The samples of this research were students at grade VII A and VII B by using saturated sampling technique. Grade VII B as experimental class and grade VII A as control class.The t-test result before being given treatment obtained that the ability of the two classes was alike. Both of the classes were given treatment, the experimental class with NHT and control class with conventional learning. Post-test data tabulation showed that there was a significant difference on students’ learning outcomes of between the use of NHT method with conventional learning. The improved of learning outcomes can be seen from the mean of N -Gain in experimental class was 0.39 in middle category and the control class was 0.09 in low category. In control class and experiment class had different learning result significantly. So it can be concluded that this method can increased students’ learning outcomes at grade VII at SMPK Medan
