Abstract

The teacher has a very important role to help students in spiritual and cognitive growth. One of them is to help students overcome difficulties in understanding concepts. At one Christian school in Jakarta, it was found that grade XI student has difficulty understanding concepts, especially in hydrocarbon material. This can be seen from the condition of students who cannot answer questions, and cannot work the questions and cannot work on problem. Overcoming this requires a way so that student are able to understand the concept of hydrocarbon and help students grow in their intellectet. The method used is to use the game method. This study aims to examine the role of teachers as priest in an effort to improve students’ understanding of concepts through games in learning chemistry. This section is a examined by the literature study method using 39 references, observation, and application. The result obtained are the teacher as a faith responsible for guiding with love, inviting students to reflect, and evaluating themselves through the game method and helping students to understand the concept of learning. Understanding of the concept of learning is measured through formative test with a value of 88, 88% of students who have scored above the minimum criteria of mastery learning. The author suggests for further research, the writer suggest that the teacher have better classroom management and creativity in applying the game method so that students are easier to master the concepts of learning chemistry./ Guru memiliki peranan yang sangat penting untuk membantu siswa dalam pertumbuhan spiritual dan kognitif. Salah satunya ialah membantu siswa mengatasi kesulitan dalam pemahaman konsep. Pada salah satu sekolah Kristen di Jakarta, ditemukan siswa kelas XI mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep, khususnya pada materi hidrokarbon. Hal ini terlihat dari kondisi siswa yang tidak dapat menjawab pertanyaan dan tidak dapat mengerjakan soal-soal. Mengatasi masalah ini, diperlukan cara sehingga siswa mampu memahami konsep hidrokarbon dan membantu siswa bertumbuh dalam intelektualnya. Cara yang digunakan ialah dengan menggunakan metode permainan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran guru sebagai imam dalam upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui permainan pada pembelajaran kimia. Bagian ini dikaji dengan metode studi literatur menggunakan 39 referensi, observasi, dan penerapan. Hasil yang diperoleh ialah guru sebagai iman bertanggung jawab untuk membimbing dan menuntun dengan kasih, mengajak siswa untuk berefleksi, dan mengevaluasi diri melalui metode permainan serta membantu siswa untuk memahami konsep pembelajaran. Pemahaman terhadap konsep pembelajaran diukur melalui tes formatif yang nilainya 88,88% siswa telah mendapatkan nilai di atas KKM. Penulis menyarankan untuk penelitian lebih lanjut, penulis menyarankan supaya guru memiliki manajemen kelas dan kreatifitas yang lebih baik dalam penerapan metode permainan agar siswa-siswa lebih mudah di dalam menguasai konsep pembelajaran kimia.
