Abstract

Pada era globalisasi ini, teknologi semakin mengalami kemajuan pesat. Aplikasi Instagram menjadi salah satu media yang populer di Indonesia dan mayoritas pengguna Instagram adalah Generasi Z atau pelajar. Second account adalah fenomena yang dilakukan oleh pengguna Instagram dengan tujuan tertentu. Melalui second account , pengguna dapat mengunggah hal-hal yang berbeda dari apa yang diunggah pada akun pertama. Pada second account penggunanya dapat meningkatkan rasa kepercayaan diri dalam memutuskan apa yang perlu dibagikan kepada banyak orang. Second account tumumnya lebih kerap dipergunakan sebab penggunanya lebih bebas menuangkan perasaan, benar-benar menjadi diri sendiri dan tidak terlalu memikirkan video atau foto apa yang akan diunggah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian fenomenologi. Pegumpulan data penelitian menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Wawancara dilakukan pada Generasi Z yang menggunakan second account di Instagram Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Generasi Z menggunakan second account di Instagram sebagai wadah ekspresi diri yang lebih bebas dan autentik. Melalui second account ini, mereka dapat mengungkapkan identitas diri, emosi, dan situasi pribadi secara lebih intim. Penggunaan dua akun membantu mereka mengatur privasi dan batas informasi yang mereka bagikan kepada publik. Pola self disclosure mereka dijelaskan dengan teori Johari Window menunjukkan bahwa mereka menggunakan jendela terbuka untuk berbagi curahan hati dan jendela buta untuk bakat atau minat yang belum sepenuhnya disadari. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berarti tentang bagaimana Generasi Z memanfaatkan media sosial untuk membangun identitas digital mereka dengan bijaksana. “/” Technology is rapidly advancing in this globalization era. Instagram is one of the most popular forms of media in Indonesia, with Generation Z and students constituting the majority of Instagram users. Second Account is a phenomenon that Instagram users engage in for a specific purpose. Users can upload items that differ from what was uploaded on the first Instagram account via the second account. On a second account, users can gain confidence in deciding what needs to be shared with a large number of people. Second accounts are more commonly used because users are more-free to express their feelings, truly be themselves, and are less concerned with what videos or photos to upload. This research applied a qualitative approach and phenomenological research methods. Interviews and observation were used to collect research data. Generation Z members who used secondary Instagram accounts were interviewed. The research findings indicate that Generation Z uses a second account on Instagram as a platform for more open and authentic self-expression. Through this second account, they can disclose their personal identities, emotions, and situations in a more intimate manner. The use of two accounts helps them manage their privacy and set boundaries on the information they share with the public. Their patterns of self-disclosure can be explained by the Johari Window theory, which shows that they use the open window to share personal feelings and the blind window for talents or interests that are not fully realized. This study provides valuable insights into how Generation Z utilizes social media to construct their digital identities wisely.
