Abstract

Employee performance is one of the main important factors of how a company can reach its success as when employees that work in a company can perform well, there is a higher chance for the company to operate effectively and reach its goals because its employees support the company. In year 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan experienced decrease in percentage of order fulfilment which generally shows decrease in its employee performance. Writer decided to discuss training and motivation as the two variables that may affect the employee performance at PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan to be able to identify how those two variables affect employee performance. This research involves saturated sampling method in which questionnaire was distributed to all employees of the company as the research object with total respondents of 52 employees. The results of this research showed that both training and motivation do affect employee performance significantly at PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan. This research brought recommendations for the company to focus more on providing expert and well-experienced tutors or instructors in training employees, conduct more motivational event or gathering for employees, and to educate employees more regarding specific work procedures, so every employee really understand and master their job. / Kinerja karyawan merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam bagaimana sebuah perusahaan dapat menggapai kesuksesan karena ketika karyawan yang bekerja di perusahaan tersebut dapat bekerja dengan baik, akan ada kesempatan yang lebih besar bagi perusahaan untuk beroperasi secara efektif dan menggapai tujuan karena karyawan mendukung perusahaan tersebut. Ditahun 2020 saat masa pandemi COVID-19, PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan mengalami penurunan di persentase pemenuhan pemesanan yang pada umumnya menunjukkan penurunan di performa karyawan. Penulis memutuskan untuk mendiskusikan pelatihan dan motivasi sebagai dua variabel yang bisa mempengaruhi performa karyawan di PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana kedua variabel tersebut mempengaruhi performa karyawan. Penelitian ini melibatkan metode pengambilan sampel jenuh dimana kuesioner didistribusikan kepada semua karyawan di perusahaan yang menjadi objek penelitian dengan total responden 52 karyawan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel pelatihan dan motivasi mempengaruhi performa karyawan secara signifikan di PT. Bungasari Flour Mills Indonesia Plant Medan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan rekomendasi bagi perusahaan untuk lebih fokus dalam menyediakan pelatih atau tutor yang ahli dan berpengalaman dalam melatih karyawan, mengadakan lebih banyak acara atau kegiatan motivasi bagi karyawan, dan untuk mengedukasi karyawan lebih lagi mengenai prosedur kerja yang spesifik, sehingga setiap karyawan benar-benar mengerti dan menguasai pekerjaan mereka.
