Abstract

Keaktifan siswa merupakan salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan hasil belajar kognitif siswa di dalam kelas. Namun, pada kenyataannya peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa kelas IX SMP pada salah satu sekolah di Nias kurang aktif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Siswa tidak bersemangat dan kurang berpartisipasi aktif di dalam kelas sehingga berdampak pada hasil belajar kognitif yang didapatkan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menggunakan metode STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) untuk membantu siswa meningkatkan keaktifan di dalam kelas, sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan tiga kali siklus. Selain itu, instrument penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah lembar observasi mentor, lembar kuisioner (checklist), lembar feedback mentor, lembar wawancara, jurnal refleksi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa berupa hasil tes kuis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, peneliti mendapatkan bahwa indikator keaktifan siswa di dalam kelas yaitu siswa memperhatikan penjelasan guru mencapai 80%, siswa bersemangat saat pembelajaran mencapai 93,3%, siswa berdiskusi dengan teman tentang materi pelajaran mencapai 86,6% dan siswa menyelesaikan soal bersama teman kelompok mencapai 96,6%. Selain itu peningkatan peresentase jumlah siswa yang memperoleh nilai kuis lebih dari atau sama dengan KKM (72) yaitu 90%. Oleh karena itu, penerapan metode STAD dapat meningkatkan keaktifan dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa./ Students‟ activeness is one of the factors which determinecognitive achievement in the classroom. Researcher found that grade IX students in one school in Nias were not active in learning. Students lacked of spirit and participate in learning that consequentlyinfluenced the learning result. Thus, researcher applied STAD method (Student Team Achievement Division) to improve students‟ activeness and cognitive achievement in the class. The researcher used CAR (Classroom Action Result) method which was conducted in three cycles. Instruments of datacollection were mentor‟s observation sheet, questionnaire sheet (checklist), mentor‟s feedback sheet, interviewing sheet, reflection journal, and test question sheet. Based on the data analysis, researcher found that students‟ activeness indicators which are paying attention to the teacher explanation gained 80%, students learning in spirit gained 93,3%, students discuss the topic gained 86,6% and students solve the problem with group members gained 96,6%.In conclusion, the implementation of STAD method increased students‟ activeness and students‟ cognitive achievement.
