Abstract

Partisipasi siswa merupakan hal yang krusial selama proses belajar mengajar. Namun ditemukan kurangnya partisipasi siswa di sekolah x pada pembelajaran biologi sehingga berdampak pada ketercapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut maka guru menerapkan metode diskusi kelompok. Tujuan dari penulisan paper ini untuk mendeskripsikan upaya mendorong partisipasi siswa kelas IX selama proses pembelajaran biologi melalui penerapan diskusi kelompok. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Mendorong partisipasi siswa dapat melalui metode diskusi dengan tahapan yaitu: pembagian kelompok, penyampaian langkah diskusi yang baik, pemberian bahan diskusi, siswa berdiskusi, kesempatan menyampaikan hasil diskusi dan menarik kesimpulan. Perubahan partisipasi siswa ditunjukkan dengan terjawabnya indikator setelah penerapan yaitu memperhatikan guru, aktif terlibat di dalam kelas serta mengikuti setiap instruksi yang diberikan guru, dan memberikan pendapat di dalam kelompok maupun menyampaikan hasil diskusi di depan kelas. Dalam diskusi kelompok guru berperan sebagai fasilitator dan teladan. Kristus merupakan teladan bagi guru kristen yang memberikan teladan tentang mengasihi dan berpartisipasi dalam pelayanan. Oleh sebab itu partisipasi sangat penting untuk ditanamkan kepada siswa sehingga tidak hanya terlibat di kelas tetapi dimanapun mereka berada. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya untuk memastikan siswa memahami instruksi yang diberikan guru untuk mengecek pemahaman siswa dan mempertimbangkan waktu tambahan untuk berdiskusi jika dibutuhkan oleh siswa./Student participation is crucial during the teaching and learning process. However, it was found that the lack of student participation in school x in biology learning had an impact on the achievement of learning objectives. To overcome this, the teacher applied the group discussion method. The purpose of writing this paper is to describe efforts to encourage the participation of grade IX students during the biology learning process through the application of group discussions. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Encouraging student participation can be through discussion methods with stages, namely: division of groups, delivery of good discussion steps, provision of discussion materials, students discuss, the opportunity to convey the results of the discussion and draw conclusions. Changes in student participation are shown by the answer to the indicators after the application, namely paying attention to the teacher, being actively involved in the class and following any instructions given by the teacher, and giving opinions in the group and conveying the results of the discussion in front of the class. In group discussions the teacher acts as a facilitator and role model. Christ is a role model for Christian teachers who set an example of loving and participating in service. Therefore, participation is very important to instill in students so that they are not only involved in the classroom but wherever they are. Suggestions for future research to ensure students understand the instructions given by the teacher to check their understanding.
