Abstract

Universitas Pelita Harapan Surabaya (UPHS) sebagai universitas yang baru berdiri mengalami kesulitan di dalam penerimaan mahasiswa baru setiap tahunnya. Hal ini terbukti dari jumlah mahasiswa baru UPHS yang setiap tahun mengalami dinamika, baik penurunan maupun kenaikan, namun kenaikan yang dialami tidak dapat melebihi jumlah mahasiswa baru pada tahun 2008 yakni tahun awal UPHS berdiri. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik kepustakaan, brainstorming dengan staf marketing dan petinggi universitas serta melakukan wawancara dengan mahasiswa UPHS. Setelah dilakukan pengumpulan data, maka dikembangkan suatu model simulasi dinamika jumlah mahasiswa baru sebagai learning model dalam penyusunan strategi peningkatan jumlah mahasiswa baru UPHS. Pengembangan model dilakukan dengan pendekatan sistem dinamis. Simulasi dilakukan dengan simulasi awal, simulasi peningkatan indeks peminatan dan simulasi peningkatan follow up.. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan hasil bahwa dengan melakukan skenario dan upaya perbaikan, jumlah mahasiswa baru akan meningkat melebihi 350 orang pada tahun 2018. Model simulasi ini diharapkan dapat mengestimasi jumlah mahasiswa baru UPHS di tahun-tahun berikutnya sehingga dapat menjadi bahan pengambilan keputusan yang relevan. / Universitas Pelita Harapan Surabaya (UPHS) as the newly established university experience difficulties in student enrollment each year. This is evident from the number of new student every year is experiencing the dynamic either decrease or increase, but the increase can not exceed the number of new students in 2008 when UPHS established. The data collection was done by using the literature, brainstorming with marketing staff and university’s top management and also conducted interviews with UPHS’ student. After data collected, a model of the dynamic simulation developed for student enrollment as a learning model in a preparation strategy to increase the number of student enrollment. Model development was used system dynamics approach. Simulation performed with the initial simulation, increased of the Index Specialization (“Indeks Peminatan”) simulation and increased follow up simulation. The result from this research by using scenarios and resolve action, the amount of new student will increase exceed 350 people in 2018.Simulation model is expected to estimate the number of UPHS’ new students in subsequent years so it can be a relevant decision making for UPHS.
