Abstract

Latar belakang : Indeks massa tubuh (IMT) yang lebih serta IMT yang kurang sering kali menjadi faktor risiko yang dapat menyebabkan timbulnya penyakit seperti penyakit paru obstruktif kronik (PPOK) yaitu penyakit berbahaya dan tidak bersifat reversibel yang dapat memburuk sehingga menimbulkan eksaserbasi yang merugikan kondisi pasien. Studi mengenai indeks massa tubuh dengan jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK di Indonesia masih minim dan sulit ditemukan sehingga peneliti ingin meneliti lebih lanjut mengenai hubungan antara kedua hal tersebut. Tujuan penelitian : Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan jumlah eksaserbasi penyakit paru obstruktif kronik pada pasien di Rumah Sakit Siloam Lippo Village Metode penelitian : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi potong lintang terhadap 49 subjek penelitian yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian Hasil : Analisis hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK menunjukkan nilai p sebesar 0,002 (<0,05). IMT dan status merokok memiliki hubungan dengan jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK dengan IMT merupakan faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK. Faktor usia, jenis kelamin, dan status pekerjaan tidak ditemukan memiliki hubungan dengan jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK pada penelitian ini. Kesimpulan : Ditemukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan jumlah eksaserbasi PPOK pada Rumah Sakit Siloam Lippo Village/ Background : High Body Mass Index (BMI) and low BMI are some risk factors that cause several medical problems such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) that classified as a dangerous disease and irreversible that can cause exacerbation as the patient condition got worse. Study about the relationship between BMI and COPD exacerbation in Indonesia are uncommon and still hard to find. Thus, this study are aimed to be able to find the relationship between both variable. Objectives : To find out whether there is association between body mass index with frequency of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation in patient of Siloam Hospital Lippo Village Method : This study utilizes cross-sectional method towards 49 research subjects that matches the study criteria Result : Analysis of the relationship between body mass index and COPD exacerbation showed a p value of 0.002 (<0.05). BMI and smoking status found related with COPD exacerbation with BMI being the most influential aspect. Age, sex, and occupation status relation with COPD exacerbation are not found in this study. Conclusion : A significant relation is found between body mass index and COPD exacerbation at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village
