Abstract

Perkembangan globalisasi yang semakin intens mencakup bukan hanya sektor ekonomi, politik, dan teknologi, namun juga dalam sektor industri kreatif. Sejak pertunjukan pertama di bulan Oktober 2003, drama musikal Wicked telah ditampilkan di lebih dari 100 kota di 18 negara di dunia. Pertunjukan Wicked dapat diterima oleh berbagai budaya di dunia karena menceritakan tentang nilainilai universal. Tema-tema besar yang terdapat dalam cerita Wicked seperti kebebasan dan penerimaan berkenaan dengan nilai-nilai universal yang tercantum dalam Deklarasi Milenium Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB), yakni kebebasan, kesetaraan, solidaritas, toleransi, respek terhadap alam, dan tanggung jawab bersama. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik kepustakaan, menggunakan data sekunder yang terdiri dari naskah pertunjukan dan skor musik orisinil Wicked, serta wawancara mendalam dengan tim pencipta Wicked yang terdapat di dalam buku The Grimmerie yang secara khusus memuat konten eksklusif di balik proses produksi Wicked. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan analisis validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik analisis konten. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dieksplorasi tema mengenai kebebasan dan penerimaan di dalam cerita Wicked yang merepresentasikan nilai-nilai universal di dalam Deklarasi Milenium PBB, yang disebarluaskan ke berbagai negara di dunia melalui proses globalisasi. / The intensification of globalization covers not only the economics, political, and technology sectors, but also the creative industry sector. Since its opening night in October 2003, Wicked the Musical has performed in more than 100 cities in 18 countries around the world. Various cultures around the world could appropriate the story of Wicked for its universal values. Major themes in the story of Wicked, including independence and acceptance are in line with the Universal values in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, which include freedom, equality, solidarity, tolerance, respect for nature, and shared responsibility. The research approach uses qualitative method. The data collection method uses secondary data consisting of original script and music score of Wicked, also previously conducted in-depth interviews with the creators of Wicked for The Grimmerie, a book that exclusively covers behind-the-scene contents of the original Wicked production. The result is obtained by analyzing the validity and reliability of the data. The data analysis is conducted by using the discourse content analysis technique. The research result further elaborates the major themes of independence and acceptance in the story of Wicked which represent the universal values in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, which are disseminated around the world through the process of globalization.
