Abstract

HOPE Special Needs Center dibangun berasal dari bentuk respon terhadap panggilan Tuhan untuk membantu dan melayani anak-anak maupun orang dewasa yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus di Jakarta, bergerak dalam 3 bidang yaitu sekolah, terapi dan pelatihan. Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) merupakan anak yang memiliki kelainan atau penyimpangan yaitu secara fisik, emosional, mental, intelektual maupun sosial dengan proses pertumbuhan / perkembangan yang berbeda dengan anak pada seusianya. Tingkat penyandang Disabilitas pada beberapa provinsi cukup tinggi salah satunya di DKI Jakarta yang berada di urutan ke 11 dengan jumlah 3,2 ribu siswa. Stigma negatif yang ada pada ABK merupakan hal yang buruk, terdapat banyak kasus anak berkebutuhan khusus di diskriminasi baik dengan kata-kata maupun pandangan. Anak berkebutuhan khusus memiliki kelebihan tersendiri, karena keahlian mereka mampu diasah dan dapat memberikan dampak positif pada orang lain. Pedekatan desain yang digunakan dalam perancangan adalah psikologi dan spiritual. Pendekatan psikologi dengan menggunakan multisensori, pendekatan spiritual menggunakan visual yang dapat mudah diterima oleh anakanak. Perancangan tersebut bertujuan untuk mengurangi stigma negatif yang ada pada anak berkebutuhan khusus. Membuat perancangan yang dapat mendukung perkembangan sosial, mental, emosi, pola perilaku anak berkebutuhan khusus agar dapat memberikan dampak positif pada masyarakat luas. / HOPE Special Needs Center was built to answer God's calling to help and provide care for special needs children and adults in Jakarta. They have 3 ways to educate children and adults; which are school, therapy and real life training. Special needs children are children with physical, emotional, mental, intellect, or social deviation. They live and grow differently from the other children their age. The rate of disabled person in a few provinces is quite high. In Jakarta (special region capital), they're in the 11th place with 3,2 thousand special needs students. Negative stigma in special needs children reported to have been happened, especially discrimination through verbal and sight. The children have their own strengths and will have positive impact on other people. The design approach used in designing HOPE Special Needs Centre is psychological and spiritual. Psychological approach using multisensory, while spiritual approach using variety of painting or visual. Designing the centre is done to change the negative stigma to the children. The design is made to provide support for their sosial life, mentality, emotional, behavioral development for better and positive impact to the society.
