Abstract

This research was conducted on the basis of the teacher’s concerns about students in the classroom who lacked in learning motivation, language and social skills at the age of 3-4 years old Dancing activity is presented as an alternative solution to overcome these concerns. Dancing activity is suitable in the early childhood curriculum as it provides a fun sensory experience. In addition, dancing activity provides a link between thought and language, moreover it trains the children’s social skills as they learn to share the space and work together in a group. The research that has been conducted in this thesis aims to develop the application of dancing activity in the early childhood learning curriculum and to find out the impact of applying these activities in learning motivation, language skills and social skills in young children. The study has been conducted with Classroom Action Research methods in Nursery 2 level XYZ Preschool, which located in Jakarta, with a total of 15 students. Data was collected through documents review, observation, interview, rubric, notes and documentation of the research. Qualitative descriptive data analysis was done through these steps: data reduction, data presentation, and data intrepetation. The results of the research showed that the implementation of dancing activity promoted the children’s learning motivation, language skills and social skills in Nursery 2 class of XYZ Preschool Jakarta. / Penelitian ini dilakukan atas dasar kerisauan guru terhadap siswa didik di kelasnya, dalam pembelajaran yang meresahkan, karena kurangnya motivasi belajar, keterampilan bahasa dan sosial pada siswa usia 3-4 tahun. Dancing activity merupakan alternatif solusi untuk mengatasi kerisauan tersebut. Dancing Activity sangatlah cocok dimasukkan ke dalam kurikulum pembelajaran PAUD karena dancing activity merupakan pengalaman sensorik yang menyenangkan. Selain itu, dancing activity dapat menjadi pengantara antara pikiran dan bahasa, serta melatih keterampilan sosial anak untuk berbagi ruang gerak dan bekerja sama dengan temannya. Penelitian yang dilakukan dalam tesis ini bertujuan mengembangkan penerapan dancing activity dalam kurikulum pembelajaran PAUD untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar, keterampilan bahasa dan keterampilan sosial pada anak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas pada sekolah PAUD XYZ di Jakarta, level kelompok bermain 2 dengan jumlah siswa 15 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui telaah dokumen, observasi, wawancara, rubrik, catatan lapangan dan dokumentasi. Analisis data deskriptif kualitatif dilakukan melalui langkah-langkah: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan intrepetasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dancing activity mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar, keterampilan bahasa dan keterampilan sosial siswa KB 2 Sekolah XYZ Jakarta.
