Televisi merupakan salah satu media massa yang paling banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat dan juga mampu memengaruhi persepsi penontonnya. Tayangan NET 86 dipilih sebagai objek tayangan acara televisi yang diteliti, karena dengan penggambaran polisi Indonesia dengan baik di tayangan tersebut, pada saat yang bersamaan pula muncul banyak permasalahan mengenai buruknya citra polisi Indonesia pada realita. Penayangan aksi dan aktivitas dari polisi dalam tayangan NET 86 yang hadir di tengah buruknya citra polisi di mata masyarakat tentunya menimbulkan persepsi dari penonton tayangan tersebut. Berangkat dari permasalahan tersebut, pendekatan kuantitatif di penelitian ini bertujuan meneliti apakah persepsi penonton mengenai citra polisi Indonesia menjadi positif ataukah negatif dengan menonton tayangan NET 86 menggunakan model pembentukan persepsi Social Information Processing Model of Perception. Empat tahapan proses di dalam model tersebut menghasilkan suatu bentuk persepsi yang kemudian digolongkan antara persepsi positif ataukah negatif. Berangkat dari metode deskriptif, penelitian dijalankan menggunakan kuesioner secara purposive sampling kepada sampel 100 responden yang menonton tayangan NET 86. Hasil penelitian berupa persepsi penonton tayangan NET 86 mengenai citra polisi Indonesia adalah positif. Maka dari itu saran diberikan kepada pihak NET Tv untuk mempertahankan tayangan jika memang mau menciptakan persepsi positif mengenai citra polisi. / Television is one of the mass media most consumed by a lot of people and also has the ability to influence audience’s perception. NET 86 is choosen as the object of this research, because of the good image depiction about Indonesian’s polices, while at the same time, a lot of problems appeared in the reality within Indonesian’s polices. The footages of NET 86 would surely result the audiences’ perception. Departing from these problems, a quantitative approach in this research aims to investigate whether the audiences’ perception of the image of Indonesian’s police to be positive or negative by watching NET 86, using a model called Social Information Processing Model of Perception. The four stages of the process in the model result a form of perception that is later classified either positive or negative. By using a descriptive method, the research is carried out using purposive sampling questionnaire to a sample of 100 respondents who watch NET 86. The result of this study is the audience's perception of the audiences’ from NET 86 about Indonesian’s polices is positive. Thus the advice from the researcher given to party in NET TV is to maintain it steady if it would create a positive perception of the image of the police.
