Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease that is caused by a progressive obstruction and is related to the inflammatory response of the lung to toxic and dangerous gas or particles. Aim: To find out the relationship between smoking habits towards CPOD in Siloam Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, Banten. Method: This research is a cross-sectional retrospective study. Data were analyzed with Chi Square test and binary logistic regression analysis. Results: Obtained demographics of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients were 42 men (80.8%) and 10 women (19.2%), with the highest patient age high to 61 years old of 27 people (51,9%) and the lowest age 60 years old of 25 people (48.1%). With mild and severe degrees respectively 31 patients (59.6%) and 21 patients (40.4%). The relationship between the degree of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with sex with OR 8,923, smoking habits with OR 4,667 , number of cigarettes smoked with OR 3,900, duration of smoking with OR 15,00 and types of cigarettes respectively with OR 5.8. There is no significant relationship between the degree of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with age when smoking starts with OR 0.727, category of smoker respectively with OR 1.625. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the degree of COPD with sex, smoking habits, number of cigarettes consumed per day, duration of smoking, and types of cigarettes.
