Abstract

Pengambilan keputusan (decision-making) adalah proses memilih dan menetapkan pilihan dari beberapa pilihan yang ada guna mendapatkan hasil akhir yang tepat dan terbaik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan mengeksplorasi dinamika proses pengambilan keputusan memilih agama pada orang dewasa dengan latar belakang orang tua yang berbeda agama, faktor-faktor apa saja yang turut berperan dalam proses tersebut, serta dampak yang terjadi di dalam kehidupan setelah pengambilan keputusan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe studi kasus dan metode wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview). Paradigma dalam penelitian ini adalah paradigma interpretif. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah tiga orang yang diperoleh dengan menetapkan berbagai kriteria, yaitu individu yang sedang dalam tahap perkembangan dewasa, memiliki orang tua berbeda agama sejak lahir hingga saat ini, serta telah memilih dan menghidupi agama yang dipeluknya, baik karena mengikuti agama salah satu orang tua, paksaan, ataupun pilihan pribadi. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa ketiga partisipan melalui setiap proses pengambilan keputusan, yaitu appraising the challenge, surveying the alternatives, weighing alternatives, making a commitment, dan adhering despite negative feedback. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang mendominasi dalam proses pengambilan keputusan beragama ketiga partisipan adalah faktor internal (dalam diri). Penelitian ini selanjutnya dapat dimanfaatkan untuk membantu orang dewasa dengan latar belakang orang tua yang berbeda agama lainnya dalam perjalanannya untuk memilih suatu agama tertentu ditengah perbedaan yang nyata adanya di depan mata. / Decision-making is the process of selecting a selection from several options to get the right and best final result. This research aims to explore the dynamics of the decision-making process of choosing religion in adults with different religion parental backgrounds, what factors play a role in the process, as well as the impact that occurs in life after the decision. The approach used in this study is qualitative with the type of case study and in-depth interview method. The paradigm in this study is the interpretive paradigm. Participants in this study are three people who were obtained by setting various criteria, namely individuals who are in the developmental stage of adulthood, have parents with different religions from birth until now, and have chosen and supported the religion that they embrace, either because it follows the religion of one of the parents, coercion, or personal choice. The results of this study indicate that all three participants go through each decision-making process, namely appraising the challenge, surveying the alternatives, weighing alternatives, making a commitment, and adhering negative feedback. In addition, the results of this study also indicate that the dominating factor in the process of making religion decisions of all three participants is internal factors (in themselves). This research can then be used to help adults who have parents with different religion in their journey to choose a particular religion amid the real differences in front of eyes.
