Abstract

Sebagai salah satu media massa, media online kini menjadi salah satu pilihan masyarakat dalam memenuhi kebutuhan akan informasi. Unsur kecepatan menjadi alasan utama masyarakat memilih media online. Kasus Nazaruddin sempat menarik perhatian masyarakat, terutama pada periode 23 Mei hingga 30 Juni 2011 saat kepergiannya ke Singapura hingga ditetapkannya sebagai tersangka. Selama itu media massa terus-menerus mengekspos kasus Nazaruddin terkait dugaan korupsi dalam pembangunan wisma atlet SEA GAMES di Palembang. Objektivitas merupakan konsep penting dalam jurnalistik. Dari isi berita, dapat dilihat bagaimana objektivitas pemberitaan media terhadap suatu peristiwa atau kasus. Kurangnya objektivitas dapat menimbulkan salah interpretasi oleh pembaca terhadap fakta sebenarnya, bahkan dapat menyesatan pembaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana objektivitas pemberitaan kasus Nazaruddin pada media online Kompas.com dan Detikcom dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskiptif. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah metode analisis isi kuantitatif. Konsep-konsep jurnalistik dan beberapa teori komunikasi juga dipakai sebagai referensi untuk menganalisis data. Unsur unsur objektivitas yang diteliti adalah keseimbangan, keakuratan, kejelasan, minim subjektivitas, atribusi dan identifikasi, tidak melanggar asas praduga tak bersalah, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberitaan kasus Nazaruddin pada Kompas.com 60% seimbang, 96% minim subjektivitas, 97% memiliki atribusi dan identifikasi serta tidak melanggar asas praduga tak bersalah, 100% akurat, jelas, dan diverifikasi. Pada pemberitaan Detikcom 56% seimbang, 77% minim subjektivitas, 89% akurat, 96% ada atribusi dan verifikasi, 99% tidak melanggar asas praduga tak bersalah dan diverifikasi, serta 100% jelas. Secara keseluruhan hasil perbandingan menunjukkan Kompas.com lebih objektif dari Detikcom dalam pemberitaan kasus Nazaruddin. / As part of mass media, online media currently invite strong interest to public in their pursue of information. The speed and openness are apparently two main reasons for the atractiveness of the new media or social media. Nazaruddin corruption case –related to construction of sport facilities for SEA GAMES event in Palembang– attracted public attention in the period of March 23 up to June 30 2011 where he was hiding himself in Singapore, flew to several countries ending in Colombia and his suspect status handed by KPK. During that period the mass media, including online media, gave strong exposure to the case. Objectivity is one of important concept of journalism. How media objectivity on reporting events can be judged from the content of news. Lack of objectivity will result in miss-interpretation by their readers. This research aims at understanding the objectivity of press reporting – Kompas.com and Detikcom – on Nazaruddin case applying descriptive approach and quantitative content analysis method. Some journalism concepts and communication theories are also applied to analyze research data. This research analyze objectivity aspects, which are balance, accuracy, clarity, less subjectivity, attribution and identification, not break the presumption of innocence, and verification. It is found that Nazaruddin case news objectivity on Kompas.com is 60% balance, 96% less subjectivity, 97% with attribution and identification, also not break the presumption of innocence, 100% accurate, clear, and verified. In part of Detikcom news it is 56% balance, 77% less subjectivity, 89% accurate, 96% with attribution and identification, 99% not break the presumption of innocence and verified, 100% clear. In general, Kompas.com is more objective compared to Detikcom on Nazaruddin case reporting.
