Latar Belakang : Jumlah remaja yang memiliki depresi semakin meningkat sejak tahun 2008. Pada tahun 2018, prevalensi depresi pada Fakultas Kedokteran untuk mahasiswa adalah 7,4% dan untuk mahasiswi adalah 17,6% dari sampel 324 mahasiswa dan mahasiswi. Jumlah dewasa yang memiliki indeks massa tubuh lebih dari normal diatas 18 tahun semakin meningkat sejak tahun 2007. Sampai saat ini, penelitian tentang hubungan depresi dengan indeks massa tubuh belum pernah dilakukan pada mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara depresi dan indeks massa tubuh pada mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan 2017. Metode : Penelitian ini akan menggunakan studi observasi dengan desain studi potong lintang. Pengambilan data akan dilakukan dengan cara pemeriksaan fisik dan pengisian kuesioner oleh responden dan akan melibatkan kurang lebih 74 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan Angkatan 2017. Analisa statistik yang akan digunakan adalah Chi-square dan Pearson Correlation Test. Hasil : Dari 94 partisipan, terdapat 46,81% mahasiswi yang mengalami depresi dan 53,19% yang tidak mengalami depresi. 14,89% mahasiswi memiliki indeks massa tubuh kurang dari normal, 55,32% memiliki indeks massa tubuh normal, dan 29,79% memiliki indeks massa tubuh lebih dari normal. Dari hasil analisa statistik, terdapat hubungan signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh yang lebih dari normal dengan depresi. (p value = 0,003; OR = 4,346; 95% CI = 1.628 – 11.606). Konklusi: Tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh kurang dari normal dengan depresi (p value = 0,094; OR = 2,745; 95% CI = 0.821 – 9.175)./ Background : Number of adoloscents that have depression in Indonesia has increase since the year of 2007. In 2018, the prevalence of depression among male and female students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan from sample size of 325 students are 7,4% and 17,6% respectively. Number of adults that have higher than normal body mass index increases since 2007. Research that investigate the association between depression and body mass index among female students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan have not been done before. Objective: The purpose of this study is to know whether there is an association between depression and body mass index of female students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan 2017. Methodology : This study will use observational study with crosssectional study design. Data collection will be concluded through physical examination and filling out the questionnaires by respondents and will required around 74 Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan batch 2017 female students. The statistics analysis will be using Chi-square and Pearson Correlation Test. Results: Out of 94 participants, 46,81% students have depression and 53,19% students don’t have depression, 14,89% students have body mass index that’s lower than normal, 55,32% have normal body mass index, and 29,79% have body mass index that’s higher than normal. Based on statistic analysis, there’s a significant relationship between higher than normal body mass index and depression. (p value = 0,003; OR = 4,346; 95% CI = 1.628 – 11.606) Conclusion: there is no significant re;lationship between lower than normal body mass index and depression. (p value = 0,094; OR = 2,745; 95% CI = 0.821 – 9.175).
